While flying home from Las Vegas on 12/15/13 I checked my luggage and I declared a handgun in it. A few minutes later I was paged to the security desk and escorted to the TSA security office. While in the office a very obvious anti gun TSA agent asked me in a self righteous tone of voice why I had to bring a gun with. I informed him for my protection. He replied do you think us (referring to TSA agents) and the cops can't protect you. I told him "first TSA agents don't carry guns, how can you protect anyone, second, the cops can't be everywhere". I then told him "why didn't you guys and the cops protect the guy that got killed by a psycho in Bally's Casino on Wednesday (12/11/13)?" He didn't find that funny. After checking my handgun to make sure I had packaged it in accordance to TSA rules (which it was) he told me a sarcastic tone that I was free to leave. I have flown with a checked and declared handgun dozens of times with no issue. Hopefully this time it was just my luck of getting an anti gun person on a personal agenda and not a reflection of upcoming TSA policy changes.

I'm surprised your conversation lasted longer than asking if the TSA could protect you. I'd be rolling on the floor laughing for hours while that moronic tub of lard in bright blue tried to read my ID for the 35th time.

Seriously, the TSA might be the 2nd dumbest group of people ever assembled into one collection (behind Congress)

TSA folks are screeners.... not "Agents", not "Cops". They are officials, but I think the badges go to some of their heads.

But really, most of them are probably good folks.

The man had no right to ask you those questions. I would have refused to answer them and stated that if I had done anything wrong then you can tell me what it was. In the meantime, Have a nice day.

I realized quickly that it was just a cop wannabe TSA person trying to flex his muscles that I was dealing with. His coworkers were laughing at him behind his back during our exchange. Out of all my travels I've never had an issue with TSA before, they have always been professional. I have no hard feelings towards them as a whole. It's just like everything there's always a bad apple in the bunch.

When I schooled him on the 2nd Amendment, the 4th Amendment and TSA's written policy regarding checking a firearm he pretty much shut up and left me alone.
