I really enjoy the fact that Tmac has been calling out players by name as well as calling out the teams collective gutless play. Typically it's something that's frowned upon, but coddling this team for 10 years hasn't worked

What's he got to lose? The gutless GM & Ownership won't react to him. Maybe the players will.

Does he ever call himself out for using stupid line combos & broken strategies?? Does he call himself out for being biased, ala "Niemi has to play through his struggles" while giving guys like Hertl bottom bin line mates & 4th liner minutes when they are slumping...

Tmac can pull a George Costanza and show up to a game draped in velvet with no fear of being fired...
Also calling out players & calling out players by name is something that only seems to be frowned apon in San Jose... Ive enjoyed asshole coaches in Chicago in all major sports and its not frowned apon at all, in fact the fans love it & the players deal with it -- only those with the last name Cutler dont like it and get all SJ mopey & cry bout "meanies"

Just think how lousy this team would really look like if Thornton was traded in the off season.

The Sharks are in bad shape......

So, you don't think they would have received anything for him? Also, just think how good this team would be if Nemo & Merlot were traded. :yahoo:

Right now, the sharks are perfectly set up to compete for the cup is 2-3 years. Their core players (ages) are pavelski (30), cooch(25), wingels (26), Hertl (21), Nieto (22), Shep (26), Braun (27), Pickles (27), Mueller (19), Stalock (27).

That's a great core, but its not enough to compete for a cup. Hertl and nieto are obviously not there yet. Neither is Mueller. The farm has some good guys but not that many. That said if they jettisoned Nemo, Jumbo, and patty for 1st rounders +a top 6 forward under 25 (or top 4 Dman under 25), they would have a spectacular team in 2-3 years that can compete for the cup for a while. Im not even sure they would be bad in the near term, but They would be really good in a few when all those picks come to roost, and with all those good young players, they'd have the cap space to add good vets to complement as needed.

Its a super risky strategy that could alienate the fan base, but it's the only way I can see the sharks competing for a cup anytime in the next 5-10 years. I cant see them replacing Jumbo and marleau from the existing farm should they not move them. The team will decline over the next two years and then the big two will retire and the team will be left with a so-so farm and a struggling team. Moving them will revolutionize the club and accelerate their ability to compete to within a few years, and will arm thiem with a top farm that can give them a competitive team for a decade.

Marleau's trade value going down every game. 3 goals in 39 games, never gets or appears to try to get dirty goals. No one is going to want that 7 million dollar anchor. Dougie you blew it :gaah:

Lets trade him for Barkov... Either Barkov is a complete bust with only 8pts or he's drowning in Flordia... Florida also doesnt care bout high salaries...

It's refreshing to see a fourth line that can actually play hockey.
