These are from pieces written on the 19th and 20th of July:

McNamara (M's Amateur Scouting Direcor) just visited Arizona and watched former General Danny Hultzen, who is coming off major shoulder surgery.

“It was encouraging, said McNamara,” He threw 25 fastballs, mostly strikes in a bullpen. His attitude is great. If there is one kid that can make it back from that (surgery) it’s Hultzen. He’s tough as nails. I picked up the phone and called (Mariners GM) Jack Zduriencik. Its step one. He is throwing off a mound. It looks like it is coming back pretty nice.

GENERALLY SPEAKING: McNamara checks in on former draft picks in Montgomery

“He’s on a mound,” general manager Jack Zduriencik said, “and he’s throwing about 75 percent. He’s pain-free, and he seems to be coming along very nicely.”

So what you are saying is that someone spotted Hultzen rehabbing and he looks like he is where he is suppose to be? Thanks for the update.

And just case you missed it, it is still hot in AZ.

would be nice if he doesn't end up being a total bust, and i actually wasn't aware that he was even throwing yet.

i had my rotator cuff repaired, and it took almost 2 years to get full range of motion and strength back. i can't imagine what it's like for an athlete.

I personally appreciate the update on him. It would be nice to get him pitching in games next year and maybe make a contribution in the big leagues in 2016.

Thanks for the update! AZ seems to be a little cranky lately:-)

Honestly, I find myself forgetting about him more than finding interest in his rehab. If he can return as suggested it seems like he could be just another part of our strong staff. On the other hand, his recovery could free up one of our studs for trade to get a big bat. Good news either way.

I remember being PO'd(like a lot of others) that jack Z picked Hultzen instead of Rendon.

Pretty sure noone in the baseball world applauded Jack's drafting of him. When the only positive thing a GM can say about his first round pick is he was great in college and is the most major league ready player isn't exactly encouraging.

Anthony Rendon: 111 G 81 R (Leads MLB) 15 HR 11 SB .278/.333/.467 4.1 WAR

The two positions that he plays are currently occupied by our best position players (2B, 3B), but it sure would be nice to have him in our lineup somehow.

Or not had to sign Cano to a deal because Seager and Rendon had it covered. Of course it was supposed to be Ackley, and Seager was a surprise, but at the time an IF with Ackley and Rendon sounded very intriguing.

I'm sure Rendon or Seager would've played 1B or maybe the M's might not of needed to spend 240 million on Cano.

Glad to see it, NW.

Haven' been following the M's much lately because I just don't want to go through the disappointment of failing to get that 2nd wildcard.

I consider this an overachieving team considering the little league offense, but I'd still like to see the extraordinary pitching staff get rewarded with a postseason berth.

Really hope to see Hultzen and Walker do a lot of work his offseason so they're ready to compete for 2015 roster spots.

Take care, y'all.

Glad to have you back, and I enjoy your input on here.

I agree with your comment on the disappointment part.
