Johnathan Hankins - Unsigned Free Agent - 2018 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com

I am sure he signs there. Allen is killing this team. He is doubling down on the draft and that the draft will solve all of our problems. If this team drafted worth a darn and we had several early picks, we could. But I do not trust Allen to run a draft at all.

The Skins not signing Hankins is unacceptable.

Well lets see if Hankins signs with the Jets, and for how much.

I agree with you that Bruce runs this team like a mid-level manager who's bonus depends on how much money he saves the company in lower level salaries.

As long as we dont draft a WR in the first, a RB in the second and ignore the defense until the 5th, I wont be too upset.

Hopefully the Jets offer is so bad that he runs back to the Skins - before the draft.

Even if they sign Hankins, they still need to draft Payne or Vea.

A WR in the 1st would be the worst thing we could do. And for that reason, I fully expect Bruce to do it.

I think WR is our weakest position, by far. That is why I fully expect Bruce to go WR at 13.

I think RB is our second weakest...sadly, I think he will go RB in round 2. The only reason I say sadly is we will be ignoring our defense.

And that is why free agency has been a mess this year. There were plenty of players out there who could have been signed for reasonable contracts and we chose not to do so for some unknown reason.

I know...Spencer Long and Trent Murphy could have easily been signed.

Who else you got?

Beau Allen was a huge miss. 5 million a year. Todd Davis and Nickell Robey-Coleman were both 5 million a year as well. We could have had our NT, ILB and slot CB for 15 million give or take. With the Richardson signing, we could have walked into the draft with really only RB, LG, WR and DLine depth as the pressing issues.

I am not sure if any of these guys are misses. We would have signed them but I do not see any of them as answers to anything.

Well Allen would be the 2nd best DL on the team at this point. I would rather have him than Hood in the line up. Allen could play NT for us. Ranked # 50.
NFL1000: Ranking the Top Defensive Tackles of 2017 Season

Davis is a much better player than Foster and would have started next to Brown. Ranked # 19
NFL1000: Ranking the Top Inside Linebackers of 2017 Season

Robey-Coleman is also much better than Scandrick. Ranked #10 slot CB.
NFL1000: Ranking the Top Slot Defenders of 2017 Season

We can agree to disagree, but once again, my plans would have eliminated the gaping holes we currently have and would have set us up for a good draft. These would have been reasonable signings for young/healthy players. At this point, the draft will have to address NT, RB, LG, WR and ILB. We all know that this won't happen. I agree with you in that I fully expect a WR with that 13th pick. Our front 7 again will be sub standard because our FO did not have the common sense to address this in free agency. The team will continue to be below average until we learn to successfully use free agency. I fully expect the team to be 6-10 or 5-11 next year as I have zero faith in Bruce drafting.

ESPN New York doesn't expect the Jets to sign free agent DT Johnathan Hankins.

Hankins visited the Jets after leaving Washington and Detroit without a deal. He has ties to New York from his Giants days, but may not be a great fit on a line that has Leonard Williams and Steve McLendon. With Ndamukong Suh signed, Hankins is the top defensive tackle in free agency.

Hankins price is way too high apparently. Shouldn't his price drop after the draft?

Maybe some, but I'll bet he'll continue to ask for whatever he's currently asking for well after the draft. Washington should pounce on this guy if it's true that the NYJ's don't sign him. Maybe put in some easily reached incentives to make it easier for him to reach or get close to his asking price.

Meh...if we signed those players people will complain we are over spending on Free Agency and not building through the draft.
