I agree that he is a bit too highly regarded as a bassist, but I think a little props is warranted given he intentionally down-tunes and muddies his 5-string to create a rather unique sound.

Fieldy's opening bass riff on "Daddy" (the last song on that album) is one of my favorite bass riffs to open a song. It sets the tone for a very dark and powerful song.

It’s worked for him, no doubt.

They've no doubt put out a lot of good albums and songs...but most of the openers were meh...imho.

Man on the corner is a great song. But they have had many others. I even like some of their silly stuff, I can't dance for instance.

They've no doubt put out a lot of good albums and songs...but most of the openers were meh...imho.

One thing I've noticed when going back to albums I THOUGHT had strong openers is the prevalence for short intro instrumentals or sometimes just nonsense tracks. Ugh, lol.
