Figure we might as well get a thread started to gather mock drafts as the Rams' season slides into the abyss.

Here's my latest try: (traded down from 10 to 17 in the first for 2nd and 3rd round picks, traded down in the 3rd for an extra 4th, and traded down in the 6th for a 7th)

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 17 (BUF): Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State (A)
Round 2 Pick 9: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU (A)
Round 2 Pick 10: Hunter Henry, TE, Arkansas (B-)
Round 2 Pick 17 (BUF): Tyler Boyd, WR, Pittsburgh (A-)
Round 3 Pick 10: Shon Coleman, OT, Auburn (A-)
Round 3 Pick 19 (NYJ): Deon Bush, FS, Miami (Fla.) (B+)
Round 4 Pick 10: Tyler Matakevich, OLB, Temple (A+)
Round 4 Pick 19 (NYJ): Glenn Gronkowski, FB, Kansas State (A+)
Round 6 Pick 17 (BUF): Matt Judon, DE, Grand Valley State (B+)
Round 7 Pick 4 (S.D.): Austin Blythe, C, Iowa (D-)

Only regret? Waiting too long for a center.

We are not drafting a qb with a first, we are drafting a DT and converting him to qb

I don't see too much of a point in doing trades or really doing these because I haven't seen most of these people play but Ill do a few without trades.

Fanspeak with Fanspeak Big Board

9: R1P9 QB JARED GOFF CALIFORNIA
37: R2P6 WR MICHAEL THOMAS OHIO STATE
40: R2P9 TE JAKE BUTT MICHIGAN
72: R3P9 ILB KENTRELL BROTHERS MISSOURI
104: R4P9 DE JONATHAN ALLEN ALABAMA
166: R6P9 C JACK ALLEN MICHIGAN STATE

A bit of a pipe dream but #2 QB isn't unrealistic with their somewhat lack of production. I like Brothers on the Rams because he is used to staying on the field a long time and JL isn't exactly a spring chicken or really all that good at this point.

Fanspeak with DraftTek's Big Board

9: R1P9 WR LAQUON TREADWELL OLE MISS
37: R2P6 TE O.J. HOWARD ALABAMA
40: R2P9 C DAN VOLTZ WISCONSIN
72: R3P9 DE JONATHAN ALLEN ALABAMA
104: R4P9 WR DE'RUNNYA WILSON MISSISSIPPI ST
166: R6P9 CB LLOYD CARRINGTON ARIZONA ST

Yikes. A draft board that seems to believe that the QBs aren't all that great and the Rams are better off hitting Free Agency. OJ Howard is total boom/bust. Generally I think draftek is awful so itll probably look nothing like this.

Frankspeak with CBS Big Board

9: R1P9 QB CONNOR COOK MICHIGAN STATE
37: R2P6 WR JOSH DOCTSON TCU
40: R2P9 WR TYLER BOYD PITTSBURGH
72: R3P9 TE HUNTER HENRY ARKANSAS
104: R4P9 DE CARL LAWSON AUBURN
166: R6P9 C EVAN BOEHM MISSOURI

Basically the opposite kind of draft board thats built around the hope that this is a great draft class coming out.

Here's mine:

Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 17 (CHI): Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State (A)
Round 2 Pick 9: Josh Doctson, WR, TCU (A)
Round 2 Pick 10: Jayron Kearse, SS, Clemson (A)
Round 2 Pick 15 (OAK): Darian Thompson, FS, Boise State (A)
Round 2 Pick 20 (PITT): Nick Martin, C, Notre Dame (A)
Round 3 Pick 10: Jerald Hawkins, OT, LSU (A-)
Round 3 Pick 15 (OAK): Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State (A+)
Round 4 Pick 10: O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama (A+)
Round 4 Pick 15 (OAK): Kevon Seymour, CB, Southern California (A-)
Round 5 Pick 3 (OAK): Eric Striker, OLB, Oklahoma (A+)
Round 5 Pick 7 (JAX): Roberto Aguayo, K, Florida State (A+)
Round 6 Pick 10: Nile Lawrence-Stample, DT, Florida State (A)

As you can see, I made quite a few trades. I was unable to find a OG in the draft though because every time it came to my turn to pick, there wasn't any worth taking.

This looks a lot like my draft, lol. Was aiming for Boehm late, but got diverted by Gronk Jr lol.

We should be good at OG if Robinson is bumped inside, along with Brown/Donnal/Wichmann.

Usually, if I trade down it's because I'm not intrigued with who is left in terms of value for the pick.

I'm shocked you guys even have an opinion of value yet. I haven't even started looking at film at this point.

The problem the Rams are going to have to avoid is what happened to the Buffalo Bills. They seem to have found an offense but then regressed on defense and still cant get over the hump. Rams need to find a way to keep the key players on defense, keep their depth and just improve their offense enough to where it isnt bottom 5 in the league and they are good.

I agree completely! They need to spend Their FA money on re-signing their own players on D like Jenks and McLeod.

I haven't done too much research yet, but from what I have seen, I'm not too sure I'd want to take a 1st round QB this year...

Paxton Lynch looks a bit like Cam Newton with no one to throw the football to. He throws off his back foot too much on he holds on to the ball for a long time but he can also extend plays and just looks impressive with the eyeball test.

Connor Cook seems like a natural to me. His big 'plus' attribute is his quick release. He looks like a Marc Bulger type.

Jared Goff is interesting. He can make all of the throws and really looks like he knows the game of football and he has a surprising level of escapability because defensive players were almost always chasing him. The problem is see with him is that he throws behind his receivers a lot. They catch the ball because the defender has no chance at it but he leaves a lot of Yards After Catch opportunities wasted because the receivers have to fall to the ground. He also looks like he gets too amped up on big passes and throws rockets that receivers have no chance of catching. He looks like a 2nd round prospect to me.

Carson Wentz is the Derek Carr of the draft. Really good talent from a no name school. The tape I saw was touting is 4.0 GPA so Im sure he is smart enough to pick up the game and has all the talent you'd need but going from NDST to the NFL probably means he drops to rd2. He also missed most of the season due to injury.

So..

1. Lynch. Top 5
2. Cook. Round 1
3. Goff. Round 2
4. Wentz. Round 2

I think Connor Cook would be an upgrade and better than Johnny Football or Kaepernick.

But what if you could get Johnny football for a 3rd rd pick vs a 1st on Cook? It would be nice taking a stud OT or WR with the 1st rd pick.

Bills have regressed on defense because they keep switching defensive coordinators, and as a result have flip-flopped back and forth between the 3-4 and 4-3 the past few seasons. Rex should've left the defensive system alone.

I don't know where you getting your information, but the Rams are not interested in Manziel because they can't afford his contract but you can fantasize all you want. Apparently you have been doing that for some time as we all know all too well.

Manziel is an immature head case in the same mold as JaMarcus Russell. I wouldn't be surprised if he was cut by Cleveland and you have to be awful and/or way too much of a distraction to be a QB that's kicked off the Browns. And if that happens, I want nothing to do with him. Fisher has brought in too many head cases as it is, so I don't want another. I'd much rather have a QB we draft instead of him.
