Thought it would be interesting to take a look at how Mariners hitters have done since bringing in Edgar.

Only going to pull up the stats for players with 200 or more ABs, since I don't have the patience to look at everyone.

Mark Trumbo (Only counting Mariners stats):
Prior to June 21: 52 AB 1 HR 5 RBI .192/.208/.250
After June 21: 148 AB 5 HR 15 RBI .257/.315/.405

Seth Smith:
Prior to June 21: 190 AB 6 HR 17 RBI .258/.329/.475
After June 21: 115 AB 4 HR 14 RBI .243/.328/.417

Mike Zunino:
Prior to June 21: 190 AB 7 HR 15 RBI .158/.220/.300
After June 21: 147 AB 4 HR 13 RBI .197/.232/.313

Brad Miller:
Prior to June 21: 199 AB 6 HR 18 RBI .231/.316/.397
After June 21: 140 AB 3 HR 18 RBI .279/.344/.407

Logan Morrison:
Prior to June 21: 247 AB 8 HR 23 RBI .251/.320/.389
After June 21: 125 AB 4 HR 14 RBI .152/.249/.304

Austin Jackson:
Prior to June 21: 190 AB 3 HR 13 RBI .258/.309/.368
After June 21: 192 AB 4 HR 20 RBI .244/.291/.365

Nelson Cruz:
Prior to June 21: 254 AB 19 HR 43 RBI .315/.381/.575
After June 21: 202 AB 17 HR 32 RBI .327/.396/.644

Kyle Seager:
Prior to June 21: 251 AB 11 HR 37 RBI .271/.322/.458
After June 21: 210 AB 6 HR 11 RBI .257/.323/.405

Robinson Cano:
Prior to June 21: 265 AB 2 HR 21 RBI .245/.284/.336
After June 21: 199 AB 11 HR 33 RBI .307/356/.538

TLDR:
-Robinson Cano, Brad Miller, Mike Zunino and Mike Trumbo have improved significantly.
-Nelson Cruz, Kyle Seager, Austin Jackson, and Seth Smith have remained relatively the same, give or take a bit.
-Logan Morrison has regressed significantly.

And in my opinion, the changes can all be attributed to the players leveling out since they were under-performing a great deal before and it was just timing for the first group while Morrison was over career numbers and it was just a matter of time when he was going to even out.

I think it may be a stretch to Zunino has significantly improved. I guess the numbers are what they are but I see it more as he just happened to have a good few weeks. Even the worst hitters can have a hot stretch. He is back to hitting about .120 in August.

The main difference is Cano returning to form. The offense was built around him really so it's not shocking they were bad when he was bad. Trumbo has also seen a jump but he is also always been streaky so hard to say.

You probably won't see the true affect he has until he goes through a Spring Training with these guys. Regardless of what management is going to look like I assume Edgar will be back if he wants to be.

Considering how bad Zunino's BA was (.158), he has been hitting .197 since then. Even though he went to historically shitty to just really shitty, it still is a near .40 point increase in his BA, that's why I said that.

Yea I hear ya I'm just not sure Edgar can fix him. I'm not even sure AAA can either. It's a discouraging situation to watch as this organization hasn't given him much of a chance to succeed.

Put him in a functional organization and I bet he turns into an all-star.

Sh*t just got real with a full season of Edgar. He can speak Spanish to yell at Cano and Cruz which they will yell at the others to get him off their backs

A different Edgar note:

But but but he didn't play long enough so guys who were average players like Cal Ripken Jr can be in.
