Overpaid, but they needed to do something to make the playoffs. This discussion started before they hired Bochy. They want to contend.

Best of luck to him but that arm terrifies me. Time for the Mets to spread that money around.

Rangers signed RHP Jacob deGrom to a five-year, $185 million contract.

The deal is official. Jeff Passan of ESPN adds that deGrom's contract contains a sixth-year option, that would push the total value to $222 million, and also contains a full no-trade clause. The Rangers are taking on a Texas-sized gamble by signing the 34-year-old generational talent, who has been limited to just 26 starts the last two years due to injury, but he should benefit from heading to pitcher-friendly Globe Life Field and working with elite pitch-framing backstop Jonah Heim. He'll join Jon Gray, Martin Pérez and Jake Odorizzi in the Rangers' starting rotation.

The Rangers have a long way to go. This isn’t anywhere close to when they got Kluber but a couple more injuries and he won’t be the same. The Rangers aren’t ready to contend so I’m not sure how far this takes them.

Overpaid for a guy and still not a contender. Going to take a lot more for this team to contend

Only 38 wins behind the Astros......the signing makes no sense.......

Thoughts?
Really psyched he’s out of the NL East. Also glad that my squad didn’t take the chance on a guy who is older and has had some recent injury history.
