They are going to run out of room with all these retiring drivers.

She could have been halfway decent in stock cars if she actually tried. She never got a feel for the car but she refused to run extra races (like Xfinity) to get more seat time. She has some talent, but is ridiculously stubborn even by race car driver standards. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is ever her fault and she won't take any advice whatsoever

The male contingent of NASCAR is breathing a collective sigh of "good riddance" even while they put on a congratulatory face and state how she has improved the sport. What a load of crap!

Spot on Pitman. NASCAR's attempt to have women be as good as the men just has failed miserably again. Richard Petty has been right all along!
Most people saw this coming a mile away but NASCAR didn't care and was going to shove her down the audience's throat whether they liked her or not. I don't know where she ever had success other than one win in 6-7 years in the IRL. They tried the same thing, except to market to Hispanics when JPM came in. While I hated the guys guts, at least he would win a race every so often and has won a title since leaving NASCAR.

Obviously my previous post in this thread was with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. :dhd:

To make a current events comparison, she was sort of auto racing's version of Trump. She was played up like a superstar after she led some laps at Indy, which led to the sponsorship money she brought in. Once the broadcasts started ignoring her unless she wrecked or was getting lapped after the novelty of her in the Cup series died off, the sponsorship money started drying up. So it could be said that the media helped create her and it helped destroy her.

She was in a fully funded team (that has multiple championships) & has never once scored a top 5 finish in her whole cup career. There has been part time teams with skeleton employees manage a top 5 finish.
There have been other women I think could have performed better than Danica, they just didnt look as good in a magazine. If Nascar wanted a woman to succeed in Cup. Its their fault for not chasing talent instead of the mighty dollar (they went for looks over skill)

You would've thought with the numerous titles over the NASCAR series that the drivers and CC at SHR have won over the years that she could've gained some type of knowledge from those people to make her a better driver. Instead, I believe she just coasted on her 15 minutes of fame. And now that those 15 minutes are up, people seeing that she isn't that good and sponsors aren't lining up to sponsor her car, she's forced to retire. To her, I say good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
The person I do feel bad for is Matt Kenseth. While I don't really care about him one way or the other, the guy is still a good (but not great) driver and just can't find a good ride like he should.
