D-Backs make trade for J.D. Martinez

Infielders Dawel Lugo, Sergio Alcantara and Jose King are headed to Detroit.

hopefully this means the end for Tomas............Wish they could trade him but that salary is pretty brutal, will be an expensive bench guy but better to see him come up to hit late in game then sub .200 hitters that they are using now

Owings should get pretty much every start at SS now, spelled by Marte very occasionally until Ahmed comes back at end of August

This is a great trade, and helps extend this lineup. I love Drury and Owings but both arent guys that you would ideally like to see hit 5th in a lineup. More like 6th or 7th

Tomas, as much as I like his clubhouse energy (always in a good mood/keeping it light), is a lifetime DH player. We need to trade him to an AL team for some pieces. JD will be a FA after this year. Hopefully Arizona makes a good impression and he stays.

Also good to see his X-rays were negative after the HBP in his first game. Talk about bad luck. Same thing happened to Frazier in his first game with the Yankees.
