So, I thought there was already a thread on Cordarrelle Patterson but I couldn't find it if there is.

I keep reading that this guy is FAST. Here's an article, one of many;

Patriots WR Cordarrelle Patterson uses new offseason regimen in effort to find consistency

Fast. Fastest on the Patriots roster. Top 1% league for top end speed.

Really???
Is he that fast?

His Combine 40 is a 4.42.

What am I missing? Dorsett has a 4.33 40. 4.42 is not even top 25 speed for a combine 40 (since electronic timing). He would need to be faster than a 4.31 to break into that group. Nor is it a top time from before electronic timing. Top 40 $0 times would need to be 4.29 or faster. Dorsett doesn't make either group either.

Average WR time is 4.55. He's halfway between Fast and average.

Elusive? Great. Fantastic. Fastest guy on the team? C'Mon man.

What you're missing is that 40 time is not a particularly strong indicator of top end speed if it takes you awhile to get to your top end. The article you linked clearly states that he has been working on getting to the top end quicker. Knock the .08 he's knocked off his 10 yard split mentioned in the article from the 4.42 and that takes him to 4.34.

So he's a slow starter?

I heard that his speed of 4.42 was in full pads. I don't know where anyone would be timed in the 40 in full pads unless someone had a watch during a game. I don't care of he runs a 14.42, as long as he catches the ball and scores TDs.

My bad, I thought that article was a lot shorter the first time I read it. Didn't scroll past enough of the advertisements I guess.

Even still, if spotted a 4.34 that still puts him slower than Jon Jones and P. Dorsett.
Not sure what Slater's 40 time was, but for years he was considered the team speedster.
