I'm going to add this link about these games. The link fills in some other questions.

The 3 new bowls will not begin play until 2020.

There are 3 cities vying for the other spot. Tempe, AZ (Ariz St)
Charleston, So Car (The only decent stadium is The Citadel and that
seats only 21,000). Greenville, No Car (That would be East Carolina's
home stadium.)

They also mention that with Las Vegas building their new stadium for
the Raiders, that the LV Bowl will drop the MWC and add the SEC
to face a Pac12 team. (That would mean the SEC would have
to drop a current bowl affiliation because they are limited to just
10 affiliations, not counting playoffs.)

Report: Three bowl games to be added in 2020

Well since they are going to be bottom feeder bowls, you only need like seating for 7000.

That's not 100% true.

If you can find a team, close by, within a couple of hundred
miles, having a bowl eligible record and they haven't been to
many bowl games in their history, they'll attend in decent numbers.

You just need the right combinations, to get people there.

So, if they had acted a year ago, you're saying the record-setting 0-for-SEC, 4-8 2017 Vols could've gone to a bowl?!?!
The NCAA is trying anyway possible to get you guys bowling.

Actually it is 84.

The NC game is considered one of the 43, and the NC game is
a play-in game from the 2 semi-final games.
yeah i accidentally counted the celebration bowl but left off the NC game when i went through them

Understand. I don't understand why they even include the Celebration Bowl with the others. That's simply a game
between the Champs of two former HBC conferences. They opt
for that game instead of the 1-AA playoffs because they don't
belong in 1-AA. Their competition level is more akin to Div II.
They'd get butchered in the 1-AA playoffs.

trying to add the SEC. ACC would be next desirable to me. Pac already has multiple Big Ten and XII bowls. This would also likely move Las Vegas Bowl up the chain for the Pac. likely to 4th behind Rose, Alamo and Holiday. SEC could drop Birmingham( vs AAC) and move Las Vegas in between Texas(Big XII 4) and Liberty(Big XII 5). That would draw SEC #7 or so. That is if Vegas does move up to Pac 12 #4.

I was thinking the same thing about what bowl the SEC would drop. Either Birmingham or Shreveport.

Playing the SEC would be a good move for the Pac12. It's a good
way to get credibility. But they will have to send a good team
to Vegas.

Just checked, it was Nebraska I was thinking of, not a Pac12 team.

This is true. And I believe that same Nebraska team beat a Pac-12 team that year.

FWIW, I think UCLA may have gone to a bowl one year with a 6-7 record.

They had to get a special exemption because they were 6-6 going into the CCG and were worried that a loss would make them no eligible for a bowl, if memory serves me.

While I would rather see a reduction in the number of bowl games out there, I am looking forward to a possible SEC-Pac-12 tie-in. Vegas would be a good place for it. I wouldn't mind seeing the SEC drop their ties to the Birmingham bowl. Even though it's in the middle of SEC Country, it's in an aging stadium that's long overdue for an upgrade.

On the surface a SEC/Pac bowl sounds good, but if it's well down the scale and ends up being like the Pac's #6 against the SEC #7 or something I'm not sure it will matter much. Would love to see higher level teams from both going at it every year. I'm just not sure that like Arizona vs Mizzu or A&M (from this year) really moves the needle.

rumors are new Vegas stadium and the Vegas Bowl would end tie to Mountain West and partner with SEC and Pac and negotiate a higher standing in the Pac Bowl line. I cant see it getting above Holiday tho which would leave it 4th.

You're correct. It was in 2011.. They got the exemption after the
CCG loss though, not before. The NCAA didn't want to give a Pac12
Bowl spot to some MAC team.

Great, so we are now adding the Vagisil stop feminine itching bowl, The Preparation H relief bowl, and Honey Bucket bowl.

Can't wait.

I for one can’t wait...in a few years a Dana Holgorsen led West Virginia team can carry him off the field after we record our 4th win of the year in an upset at the “Used To Be BonTon” Bowl.

Nebraska was 4-8 also. Could have had Tennessee and Nebraska in that bowl game.

Mike Riley even thought he was the right coach for the job after Shawn "I am now at Texas, Ha Ha Texas" Eichorst was fired.

SEC doesn't let bowls go that way. It would be SEC 6th vs PAC 12 7th.

I always wanted Nebraska to go to the Las Vegas Bowl. I would attend.

I will NEVER attend a Pinstripe Bowl.

Pretty soon the argument will be: With all these bowls, we need to expand the playoffs so that we aren't bringing in 5-7 teams to the post season any more!
