rumors are swirling that he will be gone. frees up close to 5 million i believe.


if this does happen and the devils have close to 20 million in cap space this summer? it will be very interesting to see if new owners really want to build a winner? trade for some players that teams can't fit under their cap. there aren't any UFA i want

Aside from the obvious cap help it would provide, it's the right thing to do. He has a life to live, he's probably already permanently screwed up. You want to be able to remember your name and your kids names when you're in your 40s and 50s.

i dont get though why he would retire and give up all that money on his contract? is it because the contract is insured? i thought that would help the devils not clowe

I'm not sure but if he is never medically cleared, which sound very likely from the article, he is off the cap but still gets paid

Not my money so I'm ok with it. That's a big cap number coming off the books if this is the case, would make a guy like Kessel far more affordable.

I know someone who has spoken with him personally. It's basically been known that Clowe can never play again for a while by the inner circles.

Yeah, he's apparently a really great guy so it sucks that he isn't getting better.

Agreed, at this point the only concern should be for his future health. Hopefully he at least gets well enough so he can do things with his family without feeling sick.
