I just find exit velocity a stupid "stat" that's all. Obviously if you hit it hard the chances of you getting a hit are greater!

It's a stat which measures the chances of getting a hit then. Which is not stupid. Thanks.

That's because statcast was only put into all MLB stadiums over the past two years.

However, it's been used by scouts for a very, very long time. I was going to showcases as a young player in the 00's and they were using it.

I couldn't think of a more valuable stat for measuring how well a hitter is executing at the plate. lol. It's as valuable of a stat as hard contact allowed by a pitcher or swings/misses. I'll say again - you have to be extremely dense not to acknowledge the value.

as I said before to me it;s a pointless espn stat. I get where you two are coming from but I'll take the tradition numbers as indicators of the quality of a player. Haha/// He might, he just might

that's not a "pointless ESPN stat". Statcast is a system created by MLB and is in every single stadium.

seriously, PitchF/X has been around forever. The baserunning/exit velocity/etc. stats are still pretty new.

and just for shits and giggles, Moncada's wRC+ (114) is pretty much in line with Pedroia's career average (116).

Still more durable than Joba Chamberlain.

I was being serious this time. I have him in a fantasy league. The site doesn't show MiLB stats and I am too lazy to look them up.

So I am guessing from your answer he is injured.

They're newly available to fans on a consistent basis. Scouts have been gunning exit velo for quite some time.

Moncada 3 for 5 with ANOTHER HR to follow up his cycle bid a couple days ago.

Up to .264/.360/.563 (OPS of .922) 6 HR's 12 RBI's (out of the lead-off spot)

9 for his last 19 with 3 HR's this week

Could be an all-star and notch 30 HR/30 SB if it's finally clicked

Oh, and...

Turk: Does Moncada have bad plate discipline, or just bad bat to ball skills?

Kiley McDaniel: Pitch selection is fine, most of what he does is well above average. Bat control is below average.

This x10. Moncada is extremely patient. Which is why he also walks a good deal. He doesn't often swing at bad pitches. He swings through good ones. Which can be frustrating, but the results are beginning to come.

Moncada becoming a star

Koepech blowing hitter away

If the Sox don't win one with Sale, this trade could look ugly soon

because hard contact is more likely to result in hits and home runs?

we all know if Moncada was still in Boston, rock would be telling us he's still only 22 and it's way too early to declare him a bust. lmao.
no. i never liked him. the sketchy "drug test" he took 2 months to pass before he came here.
the twinkie addiction.
blowing thru his money on a lot of cars? a custom car guy had to tell him no.

I remember seeing Edgar Martinez watch 5 pitches go by before hitting the 6th off the top of the wall in LF. It's not about how much you swing

Moncada is a very dumb baseball player and soft as shit but it is obvious that he has the tools to be a all star in the league.
