He went from orca fat to normal weight. It looks to have had an effect on his pitching, though he was showing signs of decline.

Even if he's never close to the pitcher he was, he'll live longer now that he's not obese. Good for him.

So much was made of his weight loss during the offseason. Seemed to me that attention was misplaced from a deteriorating left elbow. I'm no Yankees fan, but I always had a lot of respect for CC's ability to pitch. Afraid his best days are now behind him.

Now he'll have time to practice in the minors! Maybe he will dominate triple-A

This guy was an absolute machine for years, just eating up crazy amounts of innings. It's no shock that it's catching up to him.

yup... weight doesn't really have that much to do with pitching. David Wells wasn't exactly skinny. And he was a good pitcher for a long time.

I agree, of course.

But any time anybody goes through an extreme physical transformation, it's going to have an impact. My point was that, if anything, losing the weight had a deleterious effect on his pitching.

He'll probably adjust to it eventually, but it might take a little while to pitch well so much lighter.

And again, even if he doesn't, he'll live longer, and he's already uber rich.

CC started ballooning up when he was with the Tribe. I am glad to see he has lost a lot of the weight. He was a class act while he was here.

I lived this. I grew a foot between ninth grade and tenth grade and had to relearn basketball completely. My brain didnt know how to handle such a radically changed body.

As a victim of 5 knee surgeries, including an ACL reconstruction, I can say with some certainty that a simple clean up procedure wouldn't keep a pitcher out of action for more than a month unless that person is a weak sloth. The advances in techniques starting with my first "scope" in 79 to my last one about 5 years ago has been astonishing. I walked out of the recover room 2 hours after surgery and worked (remodeling contractor/carpenter) two days later with minimal pain and stiffness. Amazing shit.

Despite my "weak sloth" dig I have to believe there is something else going on in his knee that is going to shut him down.
