Let the fun begin...One secret to success...

I am not sure if Hurdle will move Byrd up to the Clean-Up spot, but if he leaves Morneau there, STL must then pitch McCutchen very carefully. They have to let Morneau beat them, not Cutch. Morneau is batting .176 the last six games.

I'll talk to myself.....Giving Waino a lead like this, he can get locked in. Good omen for STL.

Lynn at home gives me confidence in game 2, Cards have won 7 straight now and all have been at Busch.

Hopefully there is a quick hook just in case Lynn Falters. The Pen has had enough rest, that's sure.

Correct, they can't let Lynn have one of his meltdown innings where he allows 4-5 runs. They could bring in Miller or Wacha depending on who is pitching game 4. Have we heard for sure which one will pitch game 4? I assume it will be Miller.

Matheny sticking with Lynn a little too long....Some uncharacteristic bad defense...Jay and Yadi had defensive brain farts, as did Freese. For some reason, STL seems to not do very good against pitchers they are facing for the first time. It is going to be a tough hill to climb, but I have confidence. Liriano is NOT Koufax, the Cardinals just make it look that way.

Let's hope Waino can come out early and set the tone and the Cards can get a few runs in the 1st. I'm opitimistic about tonights game but it would be nice to have some breathing room early. They need Carpenter to get back to where he was before hit #199 and set the table tonight. Should be a fun night in The Lou.

GO CARDS!!!!!

Great job by Waino and the Cards. Bring on the Dodgers. Should be a good series.

I like this commentary from Grantland.

Adam Wainwright guided the Cardinals into the NLCS, throwing a complete game as St. Louis eliminated the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 6-1 win, because of course he did. David Freese hit a clutch home run in an elimination game, because of course he did. Yadier Molina was a rock both behind the plate and in the lineup all series long, because of course he was. Two of St. Louis's three Matts — Holliday and Adams — picked up the third, a slumping Carpenter, because of course they did. And the St. Louis Cardinals will now move on to the NLCS, where they will have home-field advantage against the Los Angeles Dodgers, because of course they will. In the NLCS the Cardinals will play a hard-fought, professional series, where win or lose the players will be able to leave with their heads held high, because the St. Louis Cardinals are the St. Louis Cardinals and will always be the St. Louis Cardinals.
