they were mostly garbage pickups and you had to know they weren't going to be any good. they threw away almost 10 million dollars (one year) for 4 crap pitchers when a couple good one were on the market to be had. nothing has changed. sox management is as stupid as ever.

I think Hahn did a helluva job since July of last yr at getting some young talent. Downes and bellasario were pretty good signings IMO. It's early but this pen needs to start throwing strikes

i agree completely. but i don't know if this group of pitchers is up to the task. may take a couple years.

Agreed this pen is a mess but finding decent bully arms is the least difficult part of a team to fix. I think when they are ready to really make their push, perhaps next year, they will spend some of their Dunn and Konerko money on BP arms, and a catcher if Flowers is truly a bust.

To me, this year if they get to .500 that's a nice surprise. Unlike the Williams years, I think the team finally has a coherent plan. And so far Abreu is looking like the real deal, never saw him coming to the Sox.
