5 Years $22.5 million is the deal, $4.5mill per. Yzerman signs the guy who I wanted. Not flashy, just a steady, physical stay-at-home defenseman whose just entering his prime. I'm glad Yzerman signed him than Niskanen because Niskanen is waning 7 years and $6 mill, he ain't worth that. I think Stralman will be paired with Hedman, I can see Carle and Gudas staying together with Brewer being paired with new acquisition Jason Garrison.

Bolts were in on Iginla but I don't think Yzerman was willing to offer a 3 year deal. Don't be surprised if Yzerman now looks at Patrick Marleau.

Other news, Lindback signs with Dallas, Kostka sign with the Rangers and Aulie signs with the Oilers.

I say keep your eye of Steve Ott who Yzerman has had interest in him in the past.

I think Yzerman will look to add some grit, I mentioned Ott before who I think Yzerman would ideally like but some other guys to keep your eyes on would be Marcel Goc and Daniel Winnik.

All the young backup goalies are off the market (Greiss, Johnson, Montoya, Peters), I wonder who Yzerman will target as a backup? Thomas? Nabokov? Brodeur? Perhaps he looks at Ray Emery?

Of the four you mentioned Danny I'd like Broduer but if we don't get one we're ok with Vasilevskii or Gudlevsky.

It will be interesting to see what he does with the backup spot. Emery has just signed so as Dubynk so all the youngish goalies are off the market. I don't see Thomas as a fit to be honest, Brodeur is a fit and would be a perfect mentor for Bish, I think it depends on id Brodeur thinks we a cup contender next year. Nabokov, I have a feeling it will be him. I think he'd come cheaper and he has more in the tank. I just don't Yzerman turning to Gudlevskis or Vasilevskiy as a backup, they are better getting games under the belt in the AHL than sitting on the bench backing up Bish.
