Sorry, couldn't find a better forum to post this in.

Looking for quality back packing trails in lower Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, or western PA. My brother and I are starting an annual weekend backpacking trips. We did the Manistee Trail last year and looking to go somewhere new this year. Any suggestions. Apologize for this being off topic again.

Manistee is beautiful....unfortunately there's not much like that around here. Best place I've been around within the A2 area is probably Island Lake. Has a bunch of biking and hiking trails, along with camping and fishing spots.

We stayed at an awesome camp site over Tippy Dam in Manistee and it's one of the coolest places I've fished:

So it was decided that we are going to Pictured Rocks in the UP. 42 miles, four days. Thankfully there's a bus, so we are going to park the car at one end, take the bus to the other and hike back to the car. Most of the hike is right next to Lake Superior, but who knows how close we will be to refill water.

That's a place I want to go up to soon. Always wanted to take a kayaking trip around those parts. The UP is like a different world compared to down here.

The original plans were to go to Isle Royale but that is a 12 hour drive followed by a 3 hour ferry ride or $600+ in airfare each and for that we could fly out west and hike Colorado or Utah.

The plan is to drive up Wednesday after work, hike Thursday thru Sunday morning and drive back on Sunday afternoon. Talking about this trip with a coworker and he is going to go up and do the kayaking this summer.

"Hiking project" app by REI gave me this for the trail I'm doing and everyone is dreading the downhills (we are working back to front) because we are all old as dirt with bad knees.

Speaking of backpacking...I got a St Croix travel rod for when I go to the mountains and want to catch some rainbow or brown trout. It's a nice rod! Now I just need to catch more fish with it...
