Alonso hurt in preseason testing: taken to hospital

Two time F1 World Drivers Champion ('05 & '06) Fernando Alonso was hurt this morning in a wreck during preseason testing at Barcelona. The Spaniard was, was said to be "ok and conscious" after the incident, but was nonetheless airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.

I haven't found any reports to indicate that Alonso's trip to the hospital was for anything more than standard observation/possible concussion precaution procedures - But that begs the question of why they airlifted him instead of giving him an ambulance ride.

... Besides the fact that they can bill McLaren for more money, of course.
