The 25-year-old -- Seattle's Opening Day center fielder and leadoff hitter -- is slashing .361/.368/.528 since coming over in the Chris Denorfia deal. As long as he's hot and playing every day, Almonte should be started in NL-only formats.

BUT........

Abraham Almonte went 4-for-5 with a double, run scored and an RBI in Tuesday's setback against the Dodgers.

Almonte was spectacular at the dish, but an adventure on the base paths, as he was caught stealing and later thrown out to end the game.

Interesting... I have a buddy who is a Padre fan he was mentioning how well Almonte was doing. I told him it probably won't last, after awhile you will start to notice holes in his game, he has lot of athletic ability but needs to learn how to turn that into baseball skill.

seems like a great kid. he ran into a roadblock playing MLB for the first time, as did jones.

let's hope they become staples in our lineup or yield something good in trades in the future!

Almonte put his team ahead for good with his first-inning solo home run, which he followed up with an RBI single in a three-run third inning. He has hit .239/.277/.356 with three home runs, 15 RBI and four stolen bases in 163 at-bats.

I was at Tuesday nights game in San Diego and saw Almonte light it up. I'm sad you beat me to making this thread.

When I saw him hit that homer I knew the guys back on the Hoop would love that.

I like Delnorfia so it doesn't bother me too much, but I love to follow a guy M's give up on who is still young MLB wise and see how he does. I liked Almonte, but thought M's put way too much pressure on him to start the season.

I was never really a fan of Almonte personally, but I generally wish all former Mariners success even after leaving the organization.
