Ssn Diego Padres sign Bogaerts to 11 year $280M contract

Red Sox are shocked.

Bloom thought the deal was just about done and the Padres swooped in an swiped the 30 year old SS.

Story will move to short. Sox are looking for a FT 2B and a 1B with some power and at least a .275 BA.

RedSox signed Rafael Devers to a one year deal today.

They will try to work out a long term deal before spring training. If that doesn't work they'll trade him to the Dodgers at the deadline.

Red Sox signed OF Adam Duvall to a one year $7M contract yesterday.

Had a down year in 2022 and only played 82 games.

He has a Fenway swing and just might hit 40 HRs in 2023. My guess is that he'll start out as the DH.

He may have had a down year, but he also has strikeout issues and doesn't draw walks. He's also coming off a torn tendon sheath injury. That's not to say I hate the signing, I do think it's worth seeing if his bat can rebound and he does provide a decent glove... I just think he's more of an option than a solution.

Sox did sign Raimel Tapia. He's hit well at Coors and has sucked everywhere else, though it's just a minor league deal. Tapia does hit for respectable average, though it comes along with minimal power and he doesn't draw any walks.
