2018 NIT Tournament

So, there's talk of the USA hosting a sort of NIT tournament for the countries that failed to qualify for the actual World Cup.

In theory, I'm kinda in favor of this. I bet we'd fill some seats and get some ratings. Plus it would be big punch in the eye to FIFA.

How many people would just go to boo the culprits who failed to qualify. Unless the individual culprits from the failures aren't called up to play. Sounds like a money grab to me.

no, we should feel the full shame of not qualifying and players should just sit at home in disgust for not being good enough.

We have no reason to punch FIFA in the eye. We sucked and didn't qualify. We shouldn't be a little bitch about it and take our ball and go home like this.

Yeah, I have heard this idea being spread around, but not by any reliable source who could actually do it.

I say make the players on the U.S. who failed to due their job sit at home and make them watch all those other nations play in the biggest tournament in the world.

This sounds like handing out consolation prizes to me.

The idea itself, I don't particularly like. But from a US Soccer standpoint, I do. Provided the other countries take it seriously and send good squads, we could definitely use the competition. Basically roll out a squad of Pulisic, McKennie, and every dude that looks worth a damn under 25. Get them some quality reps

Exactly, on message boards, by "fans". No one of any consequence from any National side or Federation has mentioned it.
