But Navamind still think without a doubt Sevy should be the Yankees pitcher for the WC game lmao

Right now that seems like a bad idea. But right now, who are the reliable starters the Yankees have. Tanaka and....
Sabathia? Happ remains to be seen.

He's hit a wall.....velocity is erratic and his command has vanished....I'd have no problem with him missing a start here and there.....Still has some serious talent.....

He's still young and he's hardly the first young pitch to hit an IP wall.

Lynn been damn good. Everyone in the current rotation been better than Sevy but it is likely Tanaka who gets the ball unless things change for Sevy in the final month

Lynn didn't turn into Sandy Koufax simply by joining the Yankees. Just like Nathan Eovaldi didn't despite his first 2 starts.

I do agree that Tanaka gets the nod in a play in game.

I posted Lynn stats a few weeks ago. He's been a pretty consistent solid starter since May. He basically 2 really bad starts since May.

Lynn is a perfectly serviceable pitcher to get you 5 innings with 2 or 3 runs allowed.

With the Yankees pen, that is basically all they really ask for pitchers who are not Tanaka or Severino

I'm perfectly fine with the Yankees starting a guy whose given up 57 home runs in his last 286 innings in a do-or-die game.

Can you think of a single team that has won a world series with a mediocre starting staff and a great bullpen?

I wouldn't say their staff is mediocre.....at least not since acquiring Happ and Lynn. Prior to those acquisitions, I would have agreed with you.

CC been amazing.

Tanaka had one bad start since May.

Lynn struck out 17 and allowed 1 run in his 12+ IP as starter since coming to the bronx.

Happ been good. 2 QS in both starts since coming to the Yankees. He has been able to give us distance. Pitched a full 6 IP in both starts.

Now back when Gray and German were out there, I would agree it is mediocre.

The only problem in the rotation currently is Severino is now pitching like a #5 or someone who shouldn't even be in the rotation

I will concede that Happ and Lynn could completely turn around the entire staff but that seems like a big assumption.

If Severino can't get back to being a stopper, the Yanks staff just isn't that scary. When I say mediocre, I meant for a playoff team. Which staff would you rather have? Yankees, Sox, Astros or Indians? Would you put the Yankees above any of those teams?

True but if Britton ever gets right, the yanks can literally only need 4 ip from most starters.

They can go to Drob for 2, betances for 1, britton for 1, & Chapman for 1.

This doesn't even include Green and Lynn or Happ.

You can't rely on all those guys to pitch nearly every game. That's why bullpen teams rarely win World Series.

You need at least one shut down starter.

Last October CC and Tanaka were phenomenal

Kansas City Royals

With that said, the Yankees don't have anything close to a great bullpen

I have really enjoyed the Sox historic season, seems they just can't lose. But i just don't see it in October. Their lack of legit set up men will cost them dearly. After Sales the rest of the starters are way to inconsistent, Porcella is literally 50/50 in his recent starts and Price is a bad playoff pitcher historically.
