Our 2016 transaction thread. I hope it gets sticky'd.

Cardinals Sign 11 To Future Contracts
Wide receiver Jaxon Shipley, running back Marion Grice and nine other former Cardinals practice squad players were re-signed to future contracts on Tuesday.

Shipley was on the practice squad the entire season after signing with the team as an undrafted rookie free agent last year.

Grice, an Arizona State product, saw time on the Cardinals’ active roster in 2014 and was added to the practice squad on Dec. 23.

The other players re-signed were safety Durell Eskridge, cornerback Carrington Byndom, tackle Rob Crisp, running backRobert Hughes, guardAntoine McClain, linebackerQuayshawn Nealy, defensive tackle Olsen Pierre, tackleJohn Wetzel and cornerbackKevin White.

One less player to resign. Now we can probably save a few hundred thousand signing a young player to replace him.

Good signing. Fells made strides again next year. If the trend continues, he could be more of a legit threat next year.

Weddle & Jenkins both might be too expensive. I called the Heyward target a month ago.

Looks like signs are pointing to Stanton getting offered more money to play elsewhere than the Cards can afford.

Now that would be interesting.

I doubt Irvin signs here. The Jags have money to burn while Atlanta is also interested. If Irvin was willing to take less to play for a contender, he would just stay in Seattle.

That's okay. Cards need to find Palmer's replacement and it wasn't going to be Stanton. Maybe this ends up rushing the process a bit, which could be a good thing (if done wisely).

It really depends on how Arians views Barkley. If he thinks that after a full season & another offseason in the this offense that Barkley can be a serviceable backup, then I think they let Stanton go & try to find a QB of the future in the draft. The problem is that this team is really built to win now & Arians doesn't want a QB getting injured to derail the season like it did in 2014.

Also, the word going around twitter is that Campbell is being shopped. This actually makes a lot of sense if they don't on plan resigning him after this season & could get a high pick, like a 2nd rounder, for him. As good as he has been, he is not a sack producer & will 30 at the start of 2016 season. He also has a $15 mil cap number which could translate to either $3 or $5.5 mil hit if traded. Depends on the date of the option bonus.

Or they could just extend him 2-3 years & lower his cap number. He might be open to it seeing as the Cards took care of him with that big contract after they franchised him.

Agree on Campbell. He took a big step backward last year. Most games he was barely noticeable on the field. He had a few monster games that reminded you of who he could (used to?) be...but if the price is right...

This was a career low year in sacks for him since he became the full time starter. He is still great against the run with his initial penetration & probably could be very productive if there was a good pass rushing OLB next to or opposite him. I take it this is just Keim keeping all options open in case someone promises us the moon for him.

lol @ anyone paying Massie $8 mil. That would be good for the Cards if someone did. We might get a good compensation pick since we will be losing a few guys & not signing many.

2/$6.5 mil for Stanton. The deal includes significant incentives. That's basically what he was making before.

Bringing Stanton back tells me what they think about Barkley.
