My 1997 Prelude is getting old. I went over 220,000 miles this weekend.

I'm looking at the 2013 Mazda Speed3 lately as a possible replacement since there's a new model coming out and hopefully prices will drop some to make room for the new model.

Anyone here have one or have any knowledge that could help? I like some straightline power but good cornering and it seems like this car has both.

If I were to go try to pick one up, it would be my first "new" car purchase. Any suggestions regarding negotiating for a new but older model car of this caliber? If it was listed at about $24,000 last year, should I start at $18,000?

Thanks

We recently got a Mazda 6 and like it but needed a little more space.

Did test drive one and liked the way it handled and performed. It doesn't feel cheap inside like a lot of other small cars. I did have a friend that owned a '10 Mazda 3 they loved the car and never had any issues with it. They just traded it in because their new house is back in the woods and worried about getting out in the winters.

Congrats on the purchase.

I've not ever driven one, but I've ridden in them before. Felt quick, and was impressed with the interior quality for the price.

Yeah you definitely get a lot of car for the price. It is pretty much immaculate inside and out apart from one little ding in the rear window's tint. I have GPS Nav, push button start (ok, I know it really means nothing but I feel cool as hell with it), 6 disc changer with Bose, and HID lamps that turn as I turn. It's the top of the line model and I got it for just under $20k. Would have been around $28k new.

And yeah, it definitely puts some power down. 263 HP 280 ft/lb torque stock.
