15 Art Ross Trophies in 26 Seasons

I remember a thread over at the Swamp when we were talking about over a 20 consecutive season span, there were only 3 Art Ross winners.(Gretzky, Lemieux and Jagr) On NHL.com, I saw an article talking about how 15 of the last 26 Art Ross have gone to one of 4 Pens players (Lemieux(6), Jagr(5), Crosby(2) and Malkin(2)) It isn't like we didn't know the scoring leaders were every year but seeing it as 15 out of 26 is pretty amazing considering the team with the 2nd most Art Ross recipients in the same time frame is LA with 3 and since the Pens came into the league, Boston is 2nd with 7 behind the Pens 15.

Cant say we haven't been spoiled since Lemieux walked into the picture. Makes me think how many more scoring titles the Pens would have if Mario and Sid didn't have the injuries they had. Could have been closer to 20 out of the 26?

Not sure, thing is that a lot of times Mario & Sid went down, Jagz & Geno would pick up Art Ross Trophies of their own.

Would be cool if we tanked next season and somehow got Connor McDavid. That would surely keep the tradition alive for another decade or so.

Yeah you are right about Jagr and Geno picking it up. Sid should have won last season for sure had he not taken the puck to the teeth.

It is incredible. We are spoiled rotten compared to other franchises fan bases. Wouldn't trade em for the world, though.

that must be the trade off. Pens are bestowed with scoring champions x4, but none of them stay healthy

I always tell people I'm a hockey fan 1st,and a Flyers' fan 2nd.Always give credit to teams and players that are deserving.The Pens have an astounding array of firepower ,and even though we have to hate them as rivals,you have to respect their talent.

Great array of talent,and no me first,stats wise guys IMO .In the end though,it comes down to-

Yeah gotta love the rivalry. Used to be a big fan of Lindros back in the day. People could say he was a bully on the ice but that's just because he was bigger than everyone else. I personally thought he was great about making himself accessible to the fans. Great player & a great person IMO.
