It does need to be announced to alert the defense. Decker appeared to have reported, the official appeared to announce that someone reported, so Detroit was under the impression that it was Decker because he appeared too. The refs messed up IMO, but they do all the time, so it's nothing new.

I'm not gonna pretend to know, but Ryan Clark just did a segment on SVP and said Detroit did everything correct on that play based on Decker reporting himself.

Looks like it would have counted if the refs didn't mess up. All the penalties were derived from them messing up who was eligible/ineligible.

I don't really understand the discussion around the mvp. Purdy should win it unanimously, if the season ended now. He might break the record for passer rating. He's been insane this year. SF is also blowing everyone out for the most part, so he could have even more passing yards I'd imagine.

The defense isn't any good. It won't matter because Dallas will score again, more than likely, but taking it from a 2 possession game to a 2 possession game doesn't really do anything. I was fine with it.
