McCarthy had a weirdly good combine, and he has excelled at everything asked of him at Michigan (which wasn't much). I'm a huge UM fan and even I thought he wasn't NFL quality until after the combine when he showed some legit talent in that small sample size. I think if he finds a good landing...
I'll play devil's advocate here, not because I actually buy this, because I have the same concerns as you, but there is another narrative here.
At the end of the day, he has nothing else to prove right now. He was a Heisman nominee as a wr, which is extremely hard. His tape speaks for itself...
I've been following the draft more than typical this year and it seems like the QB's coming out seem very impressive. I've watched every game McCarthy has played for Michigan and I thought he should have stayed in school another year, but now I'm thinking I'm wrong with all the hype he is...
Haven't there always been a lot of "this is a great QB class" through recent years that have been total duds? Genuinely asking because I haven't paid too much attention in years past but that seemed to have been the case a couple of times in the last 10 years.
You're probably right that Geno isn't his type of QB but overthecap has Denver with 20+ mil in cap space and geno would only count 12 mil against their cap so the financial part seems feasible. But they would probably be best just tanking for a season and getting the #1 pick
With Howell on the roster I would have to think that it's very possible that Geno is now on the trade block, unless Howell is supposed to be the QB of the future and will sit behind Geno for a year or two.
The only possible trade partner that makes sense for Geno would be Denver, though, and...
I think that article was from January. Interesting metric but they don't even provide that data to their regular subscriptions. You have to have a "business" sub.
I came here because the ESPN forums closed down, and I definitely agree that I miss the craziness there!
What blew my mind was when ESPN switched from anonymous posting to Facebook comments, people would still troll and flame like there was no tomorrow. I couldn't believe how vile people were...
The question is what is the return you would get for either Lockett or DK. I would love to have both, and DK is obviously going to be back unless traded, but Lockett needs to sign to a team-friendly deal, otherwise he is probably a cap casualty. If someone is willing to trade for him and give us...
isn't NBC the moron here? They paid Goodell a king's ransom to televise the game. Seems like that makes him a genius. If NBC then wants to piss all that money away with a fraction of the viewership that they would have received, then that's a business decision that they'll have to live with.
