Still debating if I'm going to renew my season tickets or not.

I didn't do it early on because I thought I'd be out of the country longer than I was. A few of the people I normally go to games with aren't renewing this year. Additionally, most of the people I go with are friends of mine who are grad students at UW and I'd always just have to sneak into the student section anyway.

I've made it to every home game for the past 4 years, but to be honest, I don't see as much of the game from the student section. The view there is quite terrible.

I could splurge and get more expensive tickets, but I don't enjoy sitting by myself. Kind of late to get decent tickets anyway.

I dropped mine. For several reasons really. I still may make a game or two as I always have friends with open tickets. We will see. If not, I won't miss the late season night games in the rain and the wind.

This also played a role in it for me.

The football nerd in me also just wants to watch it on TV because I get more of the game. Also, I'm usually fucking hammered before even getting into the stadium.

Still on the fence though. It really has become an almost religious-like thing for me to attend the games.

Hard to take much away from a scrimmage as it is. As much as they are designed to get you ready for live games, they aren't live games.

It was nice to see their new kicker has been booming some long distance FG's and even that doesn't mean he can do it under the pressure of the TV cameras and bright lights.

That would be Nicholas Hansen. He's a troll.

Yeah, I saw him say Haener should be starting over Browning and I realized he was a troll or a super skeptic.

I don't think his post was bad though. Worth a read if you catch it.

There's a little truth to the Haener thing. He's killing it in camp.

Doesn't mean he should replace a 3 year starter.

Yes, Jake Browning has physical limitations. He will go down as one of the best QBs in UW history, but will likely be undrafted because of those limitations. If you're to suggest that Haener should be starting over Browning (with a similar skillset), that is just insane. Also Haener has been playing against a second string offense.

That right there is the key. They don't often go 1's v 2's. Browning doesn't look as good as Haener or the others in full on drills because he's going up against one of the most potent defensive units in college football. AND he's still scoring, just not at the clip he would against the 2's.

I'd love to see the Ints/TD ratios of all of them from practice, but you won't ever get those kinds of numbers. I know from reports Jake has given up a few ints to that D, but it feels like we've read about more of them from the others and against lesser units.

If you want to win it all this year you need an aggressive yet not reckless QB that can take advantages of any holes in the D, but doesn't make stupid mistakes going for more than is available.

People can say what they want about Jake's short comings, and he for sure has some, but he doesn't cost you games with dumb mistakes. We really can't know how much of his coming up short in a few of those big games was due to Smith and his game plan/play calling as much as they were at times we had line injuries and maybe Jake had happy feet with pass rushes when he lost confidence in his line. This is a new year, with a new OC, and an even stronger line.

It would be massively dumb to make a change that is not injury related. If Haener is looking like a solid #2 that's awesome. He at least has more time in the system and should be farther along than the other two behind him. Maybe he will push Eason next year and make him fight for that starter role.

How do you all feel about the Auburn game?

Tell me I'm wrong, but I have concerns. I think the Husky defense will keep this a low scoring game, but I'm worried about the passing game. Browning has his limitations, and WR is probably the weakest position on this team right now. We have a handful of excellent WRs coming in, but WR seems to be the hardest learning curve. The Huskies also don't have much at TE with Hunter Bryant's injury.

I'm worried that the Huskies won't be able to establish much in the air game. I could see the Huskies losing this game 13-16 because they won't be able to establish anything through the air.

Hopefully they don't call the game like they did vs SC a few years back. Washington needs to establish a running game and go from there. Auburn's DL is second only to Clemson which means get the run going first and after that use a few play action passes, short throws to the TE and some screen passes to slow down the rush.

Just flying cross country is my main concern which leads up to what you wrote. I was at the Rutgers game last year and despite the later start, they struggled for the better part of the game and that was against a bad Rutgers team. If they can with stand the 1st Q and be neck and neck and still be close coming out of halftime, then maybe the Huskies can steal a victory.

You speak only of the air game. My concern is actually the ground game, which in turn impacts the air game.

Auburn might have the best front 7 they will see all year. Sure, I like our experience on the O line, but this is a tall order.

TBH, I'm not sure how you couldn't be worried about a game of this magnitude right out of the gate all the way across the country in SEC land on national TV under a huge spotlight.

I like our secondary and I think they will have strong play at the LB level which helps against a big time returning QB for the tigers.

Also Malzahn hasn't had his team exactly dialed in coming out of the gate in recent years so maybe we have a slight edge there.

I'm just ready for it to get here more than worried.
