And I do agree with you.
But the fact remains he is a rookie.
There is a level of risk there.
So draft him in a redraft league ahead of Kamara and Hunt is a risk imo.

If Bark gets 100 yds on opening day against the Jags, I'll eat crow. And if he doesn't hit the rookie wall after game 12 I'll eat crow again.
Hope your predictions are wrong- just drafted him with the #1 pick in Shady's dynasty league. He is the best rookie at least.

So he'll be drafted between 2-4 instead of 6-8

Missing out on 1/4 of a single round in value isn't a big deal, imo

Not like you're getting him at a discount, its your 1st round pick no matter what
To me there's a huge difference between the top of the 1st when the truly elite backs are available and all the picks after that. Barkley only costs an "after that" pick.

From a fantasy perspective Barkley is Kamara and Hunt blended into something better than either.

but there isn't a way to actually realize that perceived value in year 1, since he'll cost you a 1st round pick no matter what, so if you want Barkley, your random draft spot has everything to do with it, whether or not you are drafting him this year or next year.

or are we talking about keeper/dynasty leagues?
I thought this thread was about redraft

Here's a list of every Penn St RB that was drafted in the first round sorted by scrimmage yards.

But you know what you're getting with Gordon, Hunt and Kamara.. a lead back on a good offense with good OC calling the plays.

Barkley is on a subpar offense who may be passing more to stay on games. With an enigma at QB, a diva at WR (ODB), and supposedly a reliable TE target in Engram.

Sure, the Giants may come out running to start games, but will they have to abandon that game plan by halftime? Does ODB start throwing fits he's not getting enough looks?

And how does Barkley/Giants fair against the first 6 defenses they face which include JAX, CAR and PHI?

Kamara, Hunt and Gordon seem like much safer picks.

I agree with Gordon, he should go ahead of Kamara and Hunt

I don't think Barkley comes with any more risk than Hunt or Kamara

Hunt hit a rookie wall, he is now gonna be sharing with a talented back in Ware, and a new QB whose strength is as a downfield thrower

Of the Top 10 fantasy backs last season, Kamara had the least amount of touches, which is a terrifying fact considering you are again banking on him scoring TDs and making huge plays at the same rate as last season. I'll also toss out that he struggled with injuries a lot in college, and with his body type, I think it's something to have a little concern with

Not that I dont appreciate the effort of posting things like this but...

I dont really see how this is relevant.

In reality it is not. But we all look for trends somewhere. And who knows maybe this is more than just a trend.

When the excuses start pouring in if Barkley shows any flaws or weaknesses at the NFL level, sometimes the comments gravitate to the college he came from. Like: Wisconsin backs are all terrible. USC backs have always been great. Just thougbt I'd post a list a fellow Penn Staters.

Melvin Gordon from Wisky

Curt Warner and Larry Johnson from Penn State

I hear what you're saying, just thinks it's more coincidence than the school they play at

Me personally, I don't follow college ball. Could care less where a kid played. Once they get to the NFL, that's where the proof comes in.

You think anyone will be shocked if I draft Barkley 5th this Monday?

P.S. a glass half-empty person would look at the list and say, anyone drafted at or above Barkley's draft position from that school was mediocre (Thomas) or terrible (Carter).

I did say that I wouldn't draft him 6th.
I don't draft 6th.
That leaves 5th wide open.

I have the 9th pick in mbbrl. If he falls to me he is mine. But I am one that would take him with the 5th pick. Especially in Ppr.

Might even take him 4th in ppr

I'm 5th, 8th and 10th

8 and 10 I def take him

5th is where I'm struggling cause I don't want AB, so it could be Barkley or Kamara

I like Barkley much more than Kamara( but I am low on Kamara). And if you are a giant fan this is the time to be a homer!!!

there is something to the college correlation though, more than coincidence. Especially with Wisconsin (and, used to be with Nebraska). When your school continually pumps out massive, athletic olineman, like Wisconsin and Nebraska do/used to do..those RB' look damned good, and when those holes aren't there at the next level, they don't always make the adjustment. My Huskers had a few exceptions..Roger Craig, Ahman Green, but generally, those studs that looked like world beaters behind an NFL line in college, don't translate well.
Similar to Texas tech QB's and WR's now (used to be BYU)..There is more than simple coincidence to the theory
