Yeah, I'm excited. It's about time. He's been completely dominant over the last month and it's time. His control has turned a huge, huge corner and that's just a fantastic site for sore eyes.

I know we're likely waiting on Eloy due to organizational control purposes... but he's even more ready than Kopech. Would be sweet if he did come on September 1st. Him and Kopech together would make September fun and worth watching.

I wonder how long it will take Kopech to break the velo record. Maybe Tuesday with the adrenaline pumping? lol

Since I'm in Vegas, my only hope is that they show the game either on MLB or one of the ESPN channels. He has been pretty hyped up and not just by the local media, so there's a chance it might come on one of those. And yeah, can't wait for Eloy as well. I thought the Sox were going to wait until Sept, then bring up both of them together. Should be fun and we sure need a good dose of fun these days.

Well... 2 innings, 0 runs and 4 K's... but that looks like it may be it. Any kind of a lengthy rain delay and they shut him down.

Sucks

Looks like he had to pitch out of a couple of james, especially the first inning. Impressive.

Friggen rain delay and the kid's already over 50 pitches thru 2.

Checked radar ... looks like there's two cells out there. This one gonna take 20 mins and then the other ... ??? He's prolly done for the nite.

Well, with all those pitches he was throwing, he might not have made it past the 4th inning regardless. I'm glad they didn't send him back out there now that the game has resumed. I'm sure there will be some recap tonite on the MLB Channel featuring him. For those who were able to watch it live, feel free to chime in with what you observed.

6 strong innings, including working his way out of a couple of jams. It was looking like he might have to get yanked during the 6th, but worked his way out of trouble. Even tho he only threw 86 pitches total, I thought it was a wise move to not send him out there for the 7th inning.

0 walks through 8 innings is the big stat so far. I also heard during the broadcast he had 0 walks in his last 40 innings down in Charlotte?

Something clicked mechanically, that is to be for certain.

I also saw an insane statistic with Kopech where he's only surrendered 18 HR's in 400 innings of professional baseball? Jeez. Doesn't surrender long balls, (perhaps) doesn't walk anybody... induces a lot of swings/misses. Kopech has gone from raw, questionable work in progress to looking like a near finished product.

Most hits were not hard contact. However, he needs more low stress innings. Versus good teams especially, those bases loaded, 1 out jams WILL begin to turn into 2-3 run innings.

Another interesting point, assuming it's accurate, is that I don't believe he has yet hit 100mph on the radar, or if he has, it's been only here and there at best. That tells us he's not trying to rely on simply overpowering the hitters that he's relying on ball placement and his other pitches to help keep the hitters at bay. It might also be fair to say that the best thing that could have happened to him was that horrible mid-season slump that he went thru. He learned from it and worked thru it, perhaps coming out of it a better pitcher than he had previously been to date.
