WTF ???

Wynn - Achilles
Michel - Knee (knees?)
Mitchel - Knees
Easley - Knees
Dowling - Knees, Ankles, Hips, Feet, Toes, Sphincter...
Cannon - Cancer
Stork - Concussions
Gronkowski - Lower Back
Vollmer - Lower Back
Rivers - ACL

Who was the dude that had blood clots?
Not to mention Armistead (sp?) from the CFL who had a heart disorder. Seems like I am missing a few too.
Did Chandler Jones have knee issues, or Jamie Collins?

Thoughts?

Freak coincidence or does Bill gamble too much?
Are the team docs inadequate or incompetent?

Or is this just the norm?

Edited to add Rivers....

Cannon looked like a guy that would get cancer?????

Wynn tore his archilles. That's not anything he had in college. He mis-stepped and tried to do something that his body could not physically do.

Bill gambled on Michel. I don't think it was wise to take him in the first round and maybe Bill could have taken a better RB in the first and picked up Michel in the third or fourth. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Sometimes the games get rained out. It's wait and see as far Michel is concerned.

How many first round picks from the past five years are actually starters? I'd guess less than 50% A lot of them are gone after two years because the NFL is not Division I or II college football. Every NFL player is 10 times better than the guys most draft picks played against every week.

With today's advances in medicine if you feel a guy is that good you take him round on and two. You repair, rehab and use them in year two. Is it a risk sure, but it's one teams, all teams take.

I'm not really sure why you're mixing guys in that had clean medicals coming into the league that got hurt after they were drafted, with the guys that had known issues (which I think was the larger point you were trying to make...you don't need to pad your numbers...I mean at that point you might as well throw Brady and Edelman and every other guy they ever drafted that ever had an injury in there, too).

Maybe with the exception of Sony Michel, I think if you look at the history of where they took medical red flag guys, they were all at greatly reduced values as compared where their onfield talents would otherwise have dictated. I've got no quarrel with taking those risks, and I'd be surprised if it could be shown that the Pats fare significantly worse than any other team in that regard.

I was watching Sports Sunday this morning and finally someone decided to come out say something without pussy footing around. Sony Michel has a meniscus issue and he had meniscus surgery, whatever the hell that is.

I included the guys with an assumed clean medical record because, well maybe they were not clean. Could the team docs have caught something? Not saying there was an issue.
Also, knowing how many players have been drafted that were questionable health wise and how much it can set a team back when the higher picks miss the first year or two, is there maybe a deficiency in the strength and conditioning program?
Would a little Alex G pliability program benefit the team long term?

Also...it's been so slow...I needed to stir up some kinda action.

If you can show that they're deficient as compared to other teams, then we'd have some interesting things to speculate on. My perception is that the Pats do not fare any worse than any other team when it comes to the health of their players. Football players get hurt. Like, a lot.

I guess I forgot this...

"New England is rarely able to add elite talent in the draft because the team is so successful year after year and have late picks. One workaround for the team is to take major risks on players with injury histories, like Rob Gronkowski and Dominique Easley. These blue chip players would have gone much earlier in the draft had they remained healthy. Instead, the Patriots took a risk and drafted them later."

From a Pats Pulpit article...

Never really thought about that. Makes sense.

The trade for Chandler Jones produced......? 7 catches in the SB. Now off the team. The OT didn't make the team.

They're hoping to use the second one on Bentley. Heard that it's about 60-40 he'll be able to return and play.

Heard today that BB doesn't want to take any chances with Bentley or Sam who is working out. These guys may be the future of the LB corps.
