I dont like it, and in my mind it is obvious that they want him gone as part of their chances to woo Kawhi. But is that really the sign of a good organization? He was just stating his opinion. Not impressed

Agree with what Dan Patrick said about it this morning. If they fired/didn't re-sign Bowen because they thought his comments would make Kawhi not consider them...is that a guy they want?

Maybe they plan on replacing him with Kawhi's uncle? :noidea:

I can’t be impartial because I always view Bowen as a piece of shit from his playing days.

Kind of torn on this one. I see it from both perspectives. On one hand I don't think an employee should be fired necessarily for such a small infraction. At the same time the infraction could potentially cost the company millions of dollars in revenue and/or potential long term success. It's not as simple as just acquiring a free agent. Getting a healthy Kawhi could lead to additional playoff revenue and continued success as a franchise. They're able to retain season ticket holders and continue a healthy revenue stream (as opposed to a non-playoff team).

So in real world terms, employee potentially causes a loss of multi-millions of dollars in revenue for a company. I don't see any company retaining that employee.

He wasn't fired, was he? He just wasn't re-signed. Even less of a deal IMO.

Oh I heard he was fired. If he was just non-renewed no big deal at all then.

Dude... you just answered your own question here.

The words Clippers and Good Organization are strange bedfellows.

Still.....it's a bit too obvious for my tastes.

You catering to Dude's not even on your roster?

Alas, we are the Clippers.

So,.....

Does Kawhi want to play for an organization that handles issues like this? To me it reeks of a company w/o a culture

I disagree. Bowen is essentially a part of the media and he was asked for his opinion on a subject. He answered.

As Mecca pointed out, it's not like he said that about a player currently on the Clippers roster.

Not only that, but it's not even like he said it during a game broadcast either. He said it in an off-season interview.

Perhaps he should have realized what organization he was dealing with though. I've heard some local reporters say that the Clips can get pretty salty and petty when things are said that they don't like.

Think he should have got fined for what he said, but not sure he deserved to be fired for this.

Honestly he didnt say anything everyone else hasnt already said. But all in all fuck bruce bowen. I actually think he will strongly consider the Clippers because he wants to be in LA. Toronto should trade him before the deadline.

Total bitch move. If Kawhi is so fragile that he is going to remember some comments made by a former teammate a year later then he's done as an elite player.

It's not even just a former team mate. They never even played together.

It's a tv analyst for the team that hopes to attract him next summer.

How Kawhi Leonard internalizes public comments made by others has absolutely nothing to do with his ability on the court. Pretty big reach here.

Besides, it is the Clippers that decided to move on from Bowen. It is yet another fairly large assumption to assume Kawhi cares about Bowen's comments. He probably doesn't.
