IIRC, Marvel was about to go under at the time, and was trying to do anything they could just to stay afloat. And at that time, Batman and Superman were the only properties to make successful big screen appearances, and at that, with HUGE budgets that made the idea scary. And Spidey was the only Marvel character with any mainstream appeal. And Marvel Studios did not exist yet.

People tend to forget what a huge risk Ironman was. He was a very minor B-level hero with a relatively unknown lead actor with a very checkered past. How that movie was successful is still a head scratcher today.

But yes, seeing those decisions, by both sides, today is a bit :L

They're going with a small budget and an R rating. It could really be a gritty, almost indie-type of super hero movie. Then again, it could be a low budge disaster. It's a good sign that this won't be an origin story.

Many years ago, I was a Spawn fan. I've still got a couple of Spawn #1 comic books.
they did a great job making toys from that comic book series. I don't know if I really got into the comics, but some of those MacFarland toys were just amazing looking. That dude has talent.

Not sure how I feel about him as a director, but he can definitely make it super dark.

Just an FYI Hulu has the collection of the best super hero movies out there.

They just added a ton of dc animated movies. Justice league stuff.

Untitled Hit-Girl Spin-Off - 0000 - ComingSoon.net

Matthew Vaughn revealed plans for a solo "Hit-Girl" movie is in development. The director hinted, saying “Look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.” In the new comics, Hit-Girl travels the world righting wrongs and slashing throats around the globe.

Did either of you watch the Spawn animated series that aired on HBO in the 90's? That was dark and awesome and R-rated. It ran for three seasons. 97-99

@Niner Outlaw I was into Spawn when it came out in 92. I have several #1's. Got a few signed by McFarlane at Comic-Con way back then. He was cool to talk with. I have bought a few of those Spawn toys that ill is referencing. Back in the 90's. Nothing had been so detailed prior to those. He is right. They were and are amazing looking.

I remember watching a few episodes of the HBO series, but I don’t remember much of it. I may have to look them back up.

It’s baaaaaaack bro. On dc universe.

I’m binging through the old stuff to get back into it.

Not loving how each season is years in the future. Kills off so much character development, And we just get....stuff handed to us

i saw the first three episodes... pretty solid so far... But my biggest complaint is how connor kent and Dick Grayson look too much alike when they where these stealth black suits...

btw: i love the irony of how connor kent named himself... the kent part has nothing to do with clark kent... its like the comic gods pretend we are stupid... but in a fun way...

yeah, it was after the previous Dr Fate.

But, Red tornado didn't recommend it for that reason...but since none of the team knew Superman's secret identity, they just ran with it.

They've done some solid easter eggs without touching on them.

Particularly with Batman.

The Jason Todd memorial in Season 2 (near Tula's) and the "Oracle" stuff now in S3...avoiding two of the darkest, most brutal moments in batman history.

also, Batman Incorporated was a major DC storyline a few years ago. I'm gonna have to read it after this season of YJ.

I am wondering though if you are having difficulty telling Superboy and dick grayson apart when they are wearing these black stealth suits...
