living here in California, been introduced to some great wines, fun winery visits, and some varietals I never knew existed.

Lodi region is a less pretentious Napa. Murphy’s has some really fun spots.

What are you drinking, and what do you suggest to friends when they ask what’s good?

I know very little about wine except that I like it. I have been digging Spanish wines, and tempranillos in particular lately.

I just grab whatever's $8-9 at the Publix. Prefer Merlot.

Have only had 1 Tempranillos (winery in Tracy) to try, and while it was good, would have to try more before I could say much about it. I did have a Bobal that a neighbor had brought back from a Spain visit, that was really great. Can't seem to find it here.

Mostly around here they grow Zinfandel, Syrahs, and Cab Sav. grapes

Had a Riesling last weekend that was quite different. Don't usually care much for a Riesling, but this one was worth it. Harmony Wynelands 2016 Riesling, if you ever see it.

One of the "big" things around here this year at the tasting room seems to be making a "Zin-Bomb"

Take an Old Vine Zinfandel and mix with one of the flavored sparkling wines...

make a good "before the meal" punch at a BBQ, not something I would want to drink while eating some ribs

Wife & I are really into anything red... Merlot, Cabs, Blends, Malbec, etc.

I grab a few $10-12 bottles every time I hit the grocery store. Always try to grab new bottles we haven't tried before. Rarely do we encounter anything bad. At least not like we used to when buying the cheaper stuff.

Pretty much any red that isn't sweet is worth while. I prefer syrah and blends.

My mom made some Merlot and sent me a bottle.

I just kept it as a souvenir, bet it tastes like shit after all these years of not being stored anything close to what could be considered proper.
