Just read a few interesting items.
1. We currently have signed 38 of 50 contracts. I recall always being around 48 - 50.
2. We have 17 players under contract for next year. 11 forwards, 4 dmen and 2 goalies.
3. Felix Sandstrom signed his ELC and will be in LV next year. Hart and Sundstrom on the Phantoms?
4. If we resign Hagg (RFA), promote Lindblom, Meyers and Sanheim, we are at 21 player - 12 forwards, 7 dmen and 2 goalies with about $17-18 million in space for 2 forwards.

Hexy has cap space and contracts available, time for some magic tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sign Riley and Rick Nash, extend Provy and let's get the season going.

Only note I have on this, I think sandstrom will play one more year in Sweden. Not 100% on that though.

Morin - 3 years, 700k. Done deal.

I have my concerns about him making an impact, but I love that deal for sure. Should ensure he at least breaks in to the nhl with the flyers so we can get a look at him.

Kovy signs with LA good keep him out there.

Tavares looking at offers tomorrow rags not involved apparently. I don't think that the Flyers will be either as Patrick and Couts are entrenched on top lines. If anything they need to improve PK forwards and overall 3-4th line talent and depth.

I'm pretty amazed that the Canes packed Hanifin and Lindholm to Calgary for Hamilton, Ferland and Fox. They basically got older. Maybe they really like Adam Fox, idk...

Hamilton and Ferlund both had good years. Will be interesting to see how that pans out for both teams..

Yeah, but not only are Hanifin and Lindholm younger by 7 years altogether, I think they could ultimately be better players too. Maybe they were looking for too much money with their next contracts because they are both RFA's.

Nobody seems to want Hamilton either...Lol

My cuz just told me that there may have been a rift as his brother was traded to Phoenix. Ferlund also didn't show up every night. I guess there was some motivation otherwise those guys had good production. Canes obviously need some changes...

Well, either way, I like the deal for Calgary. So, I'm good with Carolina potentially taking a step back and regrouping. I thought that was an up and coming team, but they are more than welcome to stay below us in the standings.

I hope that you are right but Hamilton and Ferlund had pretty good years may be good for canes now but not in long term..

Between Ferland not showing up every night and Hamilton supposedly being a weird dude who doesn't get along with teammates (in both Boston and Calgary), I'd say the Flames won this deal. That and Hanifin/Lindholm are both younger by multiple years and not necessarily worse either.

Also, it's nice to see Kovalchuk going out west and you have to wonder if we're one of the five teams pitching something at Tavares before July 1st, though probably not likely. He's only just going to be 28, so I see him picking a team that has some significant young talent on the way. That and we can definitely afford to pay him. Why not us?

The question now becomes what we do with close to $22 million in cap space with only somewhere between 4 and 6 players left to sign, acquire or promote from the Ahl. Cheap, young talent like Hagg, Myers, Morin, Vecchione and Lindblom will fill most of those roles. It leaves a ton of money remaining for a couple free agents or the ability even to eat a short term contract for picks.

Only 12 teams currently have more cap space and of those teams, only 4 of them made the playoffs last year.

I look at this and come to the conclusion that among competitive teams, we have the ability this offseason to improve the most or very close to it.

From an interesting article:

There is an uncomfortable truth in plain sight. Forwards dictate winning in the NHL. It is harder to consistently score than to control possession. If a defenseman is mobile, he can lead efficient breakouts and pragmatically pinch. Almost every defenseman in the NHL can check that box. But it is far more difficult to generate offense. The best teams stockpile forwards who are creators, and those players are more likely to be drafted in the first round. In fact, Washington had nine (!) forwards who were former first-round picks on their roster.

Well, we have six of them already with Frost on the way and the ability to go out and sign a couple more in a week via free agency. It could easily be nine for us too by the end of training camp, plus we just drafted two more of them.

Somewhere I thought I read something about the Flyers being interested in Lehner? Maybe a change of scenery would help him. He was brutal in Buffalo, but it is Buffalo and they don't have a defense. I guess they do now with Dahlin.

John Carlson gets 8 years and $64 million to stay in Washington. Maybe a slight pay cut, but still big money for him.

Was really hoping for a deal that brought in some help for this season. Not going to lie, leaves me a little disappointed in the draft.

I do like the Farabee pick, though I was let down by NYI taking Dobson and Wahlstrom right before (Metlzer seemed pretty positive Dallas was taking a C).

O'Brien seems like a fine pick. Will be curious to see how he does at Providence this season.

Other than that, not overly excited for anyone the Flyers picked.
