I am not all that familiar with Tony Dorsett. I might be convinced if this is close at all.

I see this as a close vote, and even if Faulk is better it's not by a landslide.

Gotta go Faulk. Dorsett could definitely keep pace with him in the ground game but not in the receiving game.

Faulk was a jack of all trades back but he wasn't mediocre in anything. That's just ridiculously rare to find.

Dorsett was also a fumble machine and leads the NFL all time in most fumbles by a RB to my knowledge. I think because of that he's slightly overrated, nowhere near Faulk IMO. Disagree with someone above saying this is not a landslide.

Rush yard per attempt even, receiving yards per catch Faulk has a .01 lead. I won't dig my heels in saying Dorsett but I don't see the difference as all that great. You are free to your opinion though.

Different eras although Faulk ushered in the next era. Faulk was getting 80-90 receptions a year in his prime while Dorsett was getting 40-50.

If we were doing a 'yards from scrimmage comparison' then Faulk would have all of the top 4 seasons. He would also have the top 3 seasons in TDs. Dorsett would have all of the top 4 seasons in fumbling.

I think they're in different tiers.

faulk revolutionized the rb position

I agree with this. People say Barry Sanders revolutionized the RB position, but he didn't start any trend as nobody can duplicate him. Sanders wasn't revolutionary, he was just one of a kind.

Faulk was not one of a kind, he was just different strategy that had major influence on a strong offense that is a trend today. I would say he is the RB version of Lawrence Taylor.

I'm a huge Dorsett fan but this one isn't really close. Faulk's the best dual threat RB I ever saw and even if he were just a ball carrier he would be one of the best ever. Big thing with Dorsett was he played in the Sweetness era and he was clearly a notch above everybody else.

Barry didn't revolutionize anything below average blocker, below average receiver, below average in short yardage and goal line. He was fun to watch and unstoppable at times, but he wasn't the type of guy you could build around far to inconsistent.
