Well there is no definitive answer and I think that was the intent. Perhaps the whole family got wiped out thus the black screen, perhaps nothing at all, perhaps people were just paranoid about the guy who went to take a piss, perhaps they all got food poisoning from the onion rings.

There is no definitive answer so let's not pretend there was.

My two theories are they or he got whacked. Another is he finally had a heart attack.

If the screen would have been a different color then I wouldn't think death but it being black.
