I never heard that "Word"

I have a hard time believing a backup would turn down the security of $18 million per season......

The Patriots repeatedly offered Garoppolo four-year contract extensions, in the $17 million to $18 million range annually that would go higher if and when he succeeded Brady. Garoppolo and Yee rejected the offers out of hand, for reasons that remain unclear, and the Patriots knew they couldn't make any promises to Garoppolo about the timing of a transition at quarterback without it getting back to Brady.

Pats reportedly offered Jimmy G $18M/year; Belichick 'furious,' 'demoralized' after trade

Santa wasn't drunk, he was a no show. Then they put a drunk guy in a santa suit for fun.

From multiple sources, here's what I have re: the Gronk rumors. Told Belichick wanted to trade him. Offers on the table w both the Titans and 49ers. He and Robert Kraft had a closed-door meeting to discuss. Tom Brady threatened to retire if the deal went through. Kraft nixed it.
This is correct.

So you think the REAL Santa was a no show?

Throwing batteries at a guy (drunk or not) in a Santa suit is retarded.

What's hilarious is Jimmy could have lost the Super Bowl too.

This slow build train wreck is fun to watch.

He wasnt getting that deal from the Pats, not by a long shot, he got it from the Niners because he stepped in, went 5-0 and looked like the second coming of Aaron Rodgers...Absolutely no doubt they could have retained him at a club friendly rate before he was able to show how legit he is...........Everyone knows itrs where all the tension has come from cause BB always has the future of the franchises' best interest in mind, and having to trade him forever changes relationships out there....Its not a knock on Brady, but the end is near, they had a chance to transition into another era of winning, now like most teams, once Tom goes, the long rebuild will begin

Dirt, I Don't think Jimmy G was going to stay in New England without knowing for sure he was going to start within a couple of years. I think him leaving had as much to do with being able to start as it did with the money. I think Jimmy G as a free agent would have received more on the open market than the Pats would ever have been able to afford without really hurting their cap situation. I think the only way Jimmy G would have stayed in NE is if the Pats decided to move away from Tom Brady like the 49ers did with Joe Montana

You are exactly correct, any athlete at that level wants to compete not sit around holding a clip board.

Especially since he has been a backup for three years?
I agree and the situation put the Pats in a tough spot. 1. Retain the Greatest QB of all time for another year or two at most. 2. Pay the heir apparent and trade the GOAT. I think anyone who thinks rationally sees the dilemma here. The play of TB 12 has not dropped off, the SB loss was not because he failed the defense failed. So the Pats chose to honor the GOAT and they now have to love with that.

The only thing I find odd in all this is there lack of pursuit of a QB this draft. Maybe they have their eye on something down the road.
