That talent needs to mesh first for a season. It probably won't save Hue's job but getting to 6 wins is a solid season. Next year and Mayfield taking all first team reps in the offseason, then I would say they can contend for a WC spot.
That's a really fair response. Assuming chemistry is definitely not a proven thing.

The talent is there and if the chemistry isn't and the Browns struggle, then Hue needs to go mid season. Too me Hue gets a half season to prove his worth.

It really is, but honestly, I think there are several other former Browns' coaches that were dealt with even more unfairly.

No doubt. Usually 1-31 gets you canned but lets see if this new FO made the right choice on keeping Hue. I suspect he's on a very short leash.

7 or 8 wins and that's if they can split the division. Cleveland had an easier schedule than they have this season. They face six playoff teams from last season (1-20 straight up). They are also 0-6 playing their third road game in 4 weeks and that one will be at Denver. The Browns are 1-14 on turf and get that surface 4 times this season. Their longest road trip is Houston. Offensive line has given up 50 sacks and 130 QB hits.
The positives are catching Cincinnati off a bye week, they do get 4 of the six playoff teams from last season at home. Odds to make the playoffs +600 Yes, -900 No.

Pretty much. It will say a lot about Hue Jackson's future. He had some of the worst starters in the NFL over the last 2 years, but now he has more than enough talent to at least contend. I'm not gonna be shocked if he's gone next year. They have a great collection of talent and still have a ton of cap room left, too, so it'll be a pretty attractive spot.

I think the Browns have to win 5 games if Hue Jackson hopes to keep his job despite not winning 1 last season.......There is more talent here this season than what he has had........It will be interesting to see who he starts at QB.

I think 5 games gets him fired. Barring major injuries, I think anything under 6 wins gets him fired for sure and even 6 wins isn't for sure going to keep him there. With even a somewhat decent QB last year, they would've won 4-5 games, so the expectations should be higher this year.

As I said earlier in this thread, put this roster in Seahawks jerseys or Panthers jerseys and you're talking about a team that is a trendy pick to get a WC spot IMO.

I know the players are different and it looks like the Browns are on the right track, but when you've gone 1-31 the last two years, nobody knows the mental toll that takes on an organization. I say that 3-13 would be a good improvement and I'm not being sarcastic. Maybe 7-9 the following year. These things take time.

People keep saying "it's a qn league" which i think is somewhat right if your qb is elite you'll likely be good but there's like 7 elite guys in the entire league and only 2 in the AFC so after that it comes down to rosters and coaching . Cleveland has a good roster , their coaching may suck or it may not . Tough to tell with the teams they've had the last 2 years.

No sarcasm whatsoever. Assuming health - for all teams - are the Browns a potential playoff contender? It's difficult to think not at this point. Put this lineup in any other teams jerseys and you're likely predicting at least 8-9 wins:

QB: Tyrod Taylor/Baker Mayfield
RB: Nick Chubb/Carlos Hyde/Duke Johnson
WR: Josh Gordon/Jarvis Landry/Antonio Calloway/Corey Coleman
TE: David Njoku/Seth Devalve
OT: Chris Hubbard/Austin Corbett/Shon Coleman
OG: Kevin Zeitler/Joel Bitonio
C: JC Tretter

DE: Myles Garrett/Emmanuel Ogbah/Nate Orchard/Chad Thomas
DT: Larry Ogunjobi/Trevon Coley/Trent Thompson/Caleb Brantley
LB: Jamie Collins/Mychal Kendricks/Christian Kirksey/Joe Schobert
CB: EJ Gaines/TJ Currie/Denzel Ward/Briean Boddy-Calhoun
S: Demarious Randall/Julius Peppers/Derrick Kindred

There really isn't any position group that is necessarily a glaring weakness. Losing Joe Thomas will hurt, but otherwise, they've made drastic wholesale changes to every position group.

Other than "because they're the Browns", is there any actual legit reason to think this team isn't a playoff contender?

Tyrod Taylor is a backup qb, Mayfield is a rookie....So let me say it like this, are they a playoff team ?????????

It's ridiculous to talk about a team that has gone 1-31 in the past 2 seasons - while keeping the same head coach - about being a playoff team. I don't care what moves Cleveland has made this off-season; they have been the basement dwellers league for a long time and haven't even gone 0.500% or better since 2007. I'll believe they're a playoff team when I see it.

People talking about them making any sort of playoff run at this stage need to bring a little logic into it - possible? Yes. Probable as things currently stand? No. People arguing otherwise need to quit watching the ESPN hype nonsense.

This was the crux of this whole thread, no need to go off the deep end buddy.

Ravens fans would kill to have Tyrod over their current joke of a QB. Did you know that, since signing his deal, Flacco has been the worst regularly starting QB in the NFL by nearly every metric? Taylor has been significantly better as a starter, as well.

Last 3 years:

Taylor:
774/1236, 62.6 comp %, 51 TD/16 INT, 61.03 avg QBR, 92.73 avg Rating
283 carries, 1575 yards, 14 TD, 5.57 YPC

Flacco:
1054/1634, 64.5 comp %, 52 TD/40 INT, 49.46 avg QBR, 82.33 avg Rating
59 carries, 135 yards, 6 TD, 2.28 YPC

The rosters I think are better than Clevelabd for sure

NE
PITT
JAX
LAC

That's it imo that are for sure better

I'd put KC as likely better if Mahomes is decent .

After that you can argue Tennessee, Houston, Denver, Baltimore and Oakland but none of those are certain so realistically the Browns roster should at least put them in contention. Where you have to take pause is coaching and schedule . There are 6 games on their schedule vs teams who simply for sure have more talent which makes their margin for error almost nothing

So you're saying Flacco has a better completion percentage???
