I hate the assigned seating in the theaters
I like it. You don’t have to camp outside waiting to B-line it in to the theater and you know when you buy your tickets where you sit. I have no interest in sitting in the very front, very back or on the sides. I am happy to wait for a different showing.

All the reasons stated here are good, legit reasons.

But Disney produced both movies. And created the schedule for both. Seeing a May 4th fall on a Friday should have given them a priority of opening a SW flick on this day from day 1. As they were making the schedules years ago, Solo should have been priority for today, then schedule everything else accordingly.

So you claim all the reasons are good and legit and then proceed to tell everyone why the reasons are anything but good and legit? Yeah it's obvious you're just looking for a reason to bitch.

No. I was trying to be polite.

Disney created the scheduling, and all the reasons stated were using the scheduling of Avengers as a reason that Solo couldn’t be released on May the Fourth. Sounds like something Disney had complete control over.

Exactly.. you know what you're getting and you dont need to be part of the cattle to get a seat.

The movie just ended for me. I could do without the first half of the movie or so but I’d say I liked it. Better than I expected going in so that’s a plus. Of course after Rogue One and The Last Jedi my expectations were really low.

I want to rate the film about a 7.5/10 but that first part dragged it down to around a 6.5 for me.

Also
Didn’t expect to see Darth Maul either.

We know he’s alive if you watched The Clone Wars animated tv show but as far as the movie universe was concerned he was dead.

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit. I cringed when I first heard this movie was being made and then I cringed some more when I saw who'd be playing him. Nothing to do with his acting abilities or lack thereof, but I just didn't think he looked or sounded like a very convincing Han. But I thought this movie told a pretty decent story and had some really cool parts. Aside from what I said earlier about the actor not looking or sounding like Han Solo, I thought the he did a pretty good job. Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover were great. The rest of the cast was okay in my opinion.

My least favorite part of the movie was probably the main droid. I really don't care for any of the new droids or the droid humor in the Disney era. C-3PO and R2-D2 were never my favorite characters but they served the story's purpose and provided the occasional humor but weren't over the top like these ones.

How Han met Chewy was kind of cool. How he won the Falcon was kind of anti-climactic and seemed to be just thrown in there at the end. For a ship that Lando loved so much, he sure was eager to bet with it. Yeah I know he planned to cheat but I was hoping for something with more tension that would escalate to that point where Han somehow manipulated Lando into making the irrational decision to bet the MF.

So far of the 4 Disney movies I like the 2 stand-alone ones far more than the main saga ones. Probably because they both told their own self-contained stories that were related to events or characters we're familiar with. The main saga has become a mess, even worse than the prequels, and has no direction. Having different writers write each one (for the first 2 and that was the original plan for all 3) without having any kind of an outline for a story is just a terrible idea.

I'm a big Star Wars fan and I'm not interested in this movie at all... Feels too much like a moneygrab, and "The Last Jedi" was a big disappointment to me.

I will likely wait and rent it when it becomes available.

I love it. You don't have to worry about getting there so early to get a good seat.

But on the flipside if you try to order your tickets say 3 days early and all the good seats are already taken because it’s a popular movie you may be less inclined to go see it at that time at that theater.

I know my parents have encountered a few times where they go to buy a few days early and the only seats left are up close and they just don’t go.

It becomes a known situation this way, though. You KNOW you will get good seats, if you can get the tickets.

If you bought anything goes tickets, you might have paid for them already, but when you get to the theater, all the good seats are taken, and you are stuck in shitty front row seats anyway.

We have an awesome theater near by. Had to do a 7:30 showing last night to find some decent seats, but the theaters has leather recliners and only about 50 seats in the room. Love that place. And cheaper than the larger anything-goes theater that we used to go to.

2 great movies - A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back

2 pretty good movies - Return of the Jedi, Rogue One

1 solid if unoriginal fan homage movie - Force Awakens

3 below average movies with some decent elements - Revenge, Han Solo, Last Jedi

2 horrible movies that have little redemptive qualities, and get worse over time - Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones

Han Solo was "meh". It wasn't the worst, but it ends up in the dustbin with the 4 bad Star Wars movies.

The Maul scene was badass but threw me.

2nd best villain in the universe and was wasted o the worst movie in the universe. Then it's like hello let's explore this a little more. There are alot of constraints because it's an established timeline but I would love to flesh out more of what Darth Maul has to offer to this series

I just watched the movie. I'm still thinking about it all but here are my initial thoughts.

This movie was not good.

I reluctantly went into this even though I'm a big Star Wars fan. The issue for me is that I don't think Han Solo is interesting enough of a character to warrant a stand-alone film. I was hoping I would feel differently after watching this, but that wasn't the case.

I was almost completely bored with the first 75% of the movie, but there were a few good parts. The way Han and Chewbacca met was really cool, along with learning about the enslavement of the Wookies after Episode 3. I think they should have gone into more with that and Chewbacca's back-story. Lando was an interesting character. The action sequences early on just didn't do it for me.

There were some good moments of Han Solo humor that we're used to from the other films. Lando ditching him was my favorite part. The ship's engine dying at the most crucial time was also funny. I thought the actor who played Han would be annoying. He was...ok. Not great, not bad.

One of the worst parts of this movie, aside from being so boring for the first 75%, was the droid L3. Holy shit she was annoying. Star Wars has typically done well with interjecting some humor with the use of droids: R2-D2, K2-SO, BB8. But L3 easily reached Jar-Jar levels of annoyance. I found myself happy when she got killed, which clearly wasn't the response they were going for.

The last part of the movie is where it finally started to pick up. The problem was that they had way too many fake-outs. Marauders bad, marauders good. Beckett good, Beckett bad. Qi'ra good, Qi'ra bad, Qi'ra good, Qi'ra gone. I did enjoy the twist of the marauders being early parts of the rebellion though.

The best part of the movie was getting to see Maul show up again. The reason I liked this so much is because it tied the animated series Clone Wars and Rebels to the big screen. They've done this before with a character like Saw Gerrera, but this was especially good because they didn't explain anything and it was done for the fans who know what's going on with Maul. Another similar "fan service" moment was the duel between Han and Beckett, where Han Solo shoots first. Well done on both accounts. Also, seeing a shot with Two-Tubes in it was a cool connection to Rogue One.

After watching the movie, I thought back to the original trilogy. The single most character-defining moment for Han Solo was when he came in at the end of Episode 4 to save Luke by distracting Vader. In my opinion, this movie planted the seeds for why Han would do that in A New Hope. He didn't want to be like Beckett and Qi'ra. Han was a smuggler but also had principles.

Overall, this movie just wasn't good. Most of it was boring. Some Star Wars fans might disagree with me, but I just think Han Solo just isn't important enough or interesting enough to carry this movie. There were some good parts, but I don't plan to watch this again. In my opinion, this is the worst Star Wars movie.

For example, you get to reserve a seat(s) on Monday or Tuesday for a movie on Friday or Saturday... Guaranteed a good seat... You can get there when the movie starts instead of going and waiting in line for 20-30 minutes to ensure you get a good seat... You're also guaranteed to have seats together if you're going with multiple people, etc... It's awesome... It's more convenient to go to a movie these days... You don't feel like you have to work at getting a good seat and ensuring they're all together if your w/ a group of people... The recliners/reserved seating is the only way to go, imo...

I gotta say, most of the negative reviews of these new(er) movies tend to be with more than casual fans. People who have read a lot of the intervening books, watched the animated stuff etc.

I'd put the rating of Solo at about 7 out of 10. Not a great movie, but solid. I thought it tipped the cap nicely to a few things from the movies (ie: yes, very much in Han to shoot FIRST). Wish they'd fixed the PARSEC mistake, but I guess they're kinda' committed to that error now.

But I don't have much of a stake in most of the extra material that's out there. Don't think I read more than one book over the years. I've seen some of the animated series, but always just considered it kid stuff.
