Sorry to be so late. My daughter graduated with her Master's degree this week, and we have been celebrating her accomplishment. She's the last one in the family to get a Master's. :D

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) (23-25) WON 1-0 in 10 innings (tzill approved) :thumb:

Game story: River Cats walk off in extras for 1-0 shutout win

• The River Cats tied a franchise record by grounding into five double plays. Their previous season high was just two, and the last time they recorded five in a game was June 12, 2014.

• Hard-throwing reliever Ray Black followed a brief 14-pitch rehab outing from Mark Melancon by striking out four of the five batters he faced, touching 100 miles per hour on the radar gun twice.

• Though Thursday's win was technically the team's second extra-inning game, it was their first nine-inning game that reached extras. Game two of the May 13 doubleheader, a game scheduled for seven innings, went one extra frame and also ended in a River Cats walk-off win.

Ray Black has really settled in now. 4 consecutive scoreless outings. He's struck-out 14 of the 26 batters he's faced

His latest he was 95-100 with his fastball and 80-81 with his breaking ball. Dude is just unfair, look at this hammer. When a guy is throwing 100 how do you look for this?

giphy.gif

That was 80 mph in an 0-1 count. Then he blew 98 right by him two pitches later.

He seems ready. However, where does he go with Melancon close to activation?

I don't think we can say he's officially ready until he goes back-to-back days. Until then he's still cooking. Which means by then someone else may need a rest.

The Giants signed Daniel Camarena yesterday to a minor league deal and assigned him to Sacramento. He's had an interesting history, missing all of the 2015 season with an injury and finally walking from the Yankees' organization, signing a minor league deal with the Cubs last off season, only to be traded back to the Yankees at the start of this season. He struggled in 8 starts at AAA this year but if the Giants can get him corrected, he may have value at the big league level. He certainly cannot do any worse than the guys currently starting for Sacramento.

But I don’t want a 65 pitch Bum in SF. That is still only 4 innings. I want him to get at least 1 more minor league start, THEN call him up. Maybe make it a two-fer and call up DRod as well.
