This is something we did at KFFL for years, and I brought it to SportsHoopla last year (albeit the day of he draft). This year I'm giving you 2 and a half days to get your picks in, because I'm just that swell of a guy.
This is the baby of a ex-KFFL-er named SilverSeahawk. I have tried to leave it in as close to his own words as possible.

Here are the slots the Seahawks are drafting in this year:

1(18):
4(120):
5(141):
5(146):
5(156):
5(168)
7(226):
7(248):
7(250):

* - denotes compensatory pick (which IS trade-able now)

Here's the scoring format. It's the same we've used in past years, and as always, I'm open to suggestions on it:

Right Player, Right Slot: 35 points
Example: I say that we draft Josh Rosen at 1(18) and it happens. I get 35 points. Historically in this contest, this has actually happened fairly often, but less often since Carroll/Schneider took over. Note: if we trade from the slot and take the projected player with that pick, you still get the full 35 points.

Right Player, Wrong Slot: 20 points
Example: I say that we draft Sam Darnold at 4(120), and we select him at 5(141). I get 20 points.

Right Position, Right Slot, but Wrong Player: 10 points
Example: I say that we draft Luke Falk at 7(248), and at 7(248) we draft Josh Allen. They both play quarterback, so I get 10 points.

I am going to use the following positions: QB, RB, FB, WR, OT, OG, OC, TE, DE, DT, OLB, MLB, S, CB, P, PK. There isn't any need to distinguish between free safety and strong safety since they are interchangable in a lot of defenses.

If a guy is a tweener who is projected at two positions, pick one position or the other. If you get the guy right, youll get the 35 points anyway. Otherwise, whether or not you get positional points depends on if what position you chose for that guy. The obvious strategy with that is to pick the position you think we would more likely address out of those two if the team does not select the player you chose.

Correct Trade Predicted: 15 point bonus
Incorrect Trade Predicted: Minus 3 points

Trades: This is the part that makes this really really difficult. In the past, we used the above model and it has worked well. If you predict the wrong team or compensation, you will not lose points. It is way too hard to predict that kind of thing. If you say we will trade up with the 1(26) pick and we do, you get 15 points, no matter who you said we would trade up with.

Tiebreaker rule: if two or more people tie for first place, the tiebreaker will go to the person who had a perfect pick that was latest in the draft (a 35 point type). If it's still tied, it'll go to the person who had the latest right player, wrong slot pick (20 point type).

The deadline for contest entries is the beginning of the draft (8:00pm Eastern Time). You can edit your entry any time before then. SportsHoopla tells what time posts were edited, so there shouldn’t be any problem there. Any entry that is edited after the deadline is automatically disqualified, even if that person says they were changing something else.

I know it's not the intent to have a discussion, but I hope you don't hit this prediction. The value of our 1.18 is 900, and the combined value of a 2 & 3 is about 600 (depending on where they are, of course). We lose big time on that trade.

You're absolutely right, I just didn't feel like working any harder on trade parameters for this exercise =)

I believe they will trade down to 25. Then trade again and use our first pick on 33. Who? no idea.

I don't get into the draft anywhere near as seriously as I did when I was younger. Shoot, I remember in the 80s when I was in high school and ESPN firs started televising it, it was in the middle of the week and my mom would actually write me a bogus note to be excused from school so I could stay home and watch. Used to spend the entire weekend glued to the tv when it was Sat/Sun, usually also in a chat room with guys from the CNNSI/KFFL boards. Nowadays, I usually catch all of the first round and then intermittently after that, depending on how good or bad the weather is. I think last year I even missed the first handful of picks. On top of that, I don't watch a ton of college ball either, so put that all together and my picks are probably going to be a glorious failure (and I don't even remember when the last time was when I entered this thing), but I'll throw some out there for grins:

1(18): Trade Down.
RND 2 (from trade): OG Will Hernandez, UTEP
RND 2 (from trade): DE Harold Landry, BC
RND 3 (from trade): RB Nick Chubb, UG
4(120): OLB Shaquem Griffin, UCF
5(141): OT Orlando Brown, Oklahoma
5(146): TE Will Dissly, UW
5(156): WR Keke Coutee, Texas Tech
5(168): CB Tony Brown, Alabama
7(226): QB Quinton Flowers, USF
7(248): RB Levon Coleman, UW
7(250): OT David Steinmetz, Purdue

My son shared a rumor with me that Dallas is willing to give up a 2nd rounder for ET. Should be interesting to see if anything happens there.

I kind of hope we draft someone tonight... lol. I'm tired of not seeing Seattle take 1st rounders. Hopefully we trade down into the late 1st though and snag a 2nd/4th.

I still think there is a strong possibility that we trade Earl Thomas... I hope we can get a 1st for him, even if it involves giving up a late round pick as well...

The safety market has been so slow though, and this draft is LOADED with CB/safety talent, even plenty to be had in the 2nd round. I can't imagine anyone would give up a 1st for him. We'd get like a 3rd at most IMO. Thomas is almost 30, has dealt with a major injury, and it'd be a 1 year rental unless you re-negotiate (which he already wants, he's a holdout risk as is). His contract is also pretty high for this year so not every team can deal with his cap hit.

That's why I think we'd have to throw in a pick in the 5th along w/ Earl to gain a 1st... I don't see it happening but if someone's guy get's taken early they may settle w/ Earl...

My son (who is now in college, btw) was telling me earlier that the rumor is Dallas is willing to buy him for a 2nd. If that ends up being the best pick in the deal, we could wait until tomorrow and still get it done for this draft. Should be an interesting 24 hours.
