I find it very interesting that modern conservatism in the UK basically got its start with Thatcher taking on the coal unions in the 80s which along with market forces led to its demise while American conservatism today is fueled in large part by trying to prop up the dead fuel.

Well it is fitting that you have and old dead fossil trying to revive an old dead fossil fuel.

Two more seats for the Dems? Trump's track record on endorsements is not good.
What is funny in Arizona both the D and R are close in terms of border control with the exception the Democrat wanting to use more technology since she realizes most illegal aliens are here on overstated visas and the Republican willing to put up a border wall where necessary. Neither supports Trumps plan for a bigly glorious wall.

Bridgitte - "See Donald this is what it feels like to hold a real sized penis."

Donald - "Ah yes this is about the girth of Vlads penis"
Donald - "Let me show you how I wrap my mouth around it"
Bridgitte - "No need I did that last week"

Melania (to herself) - "Please get me the f**k out of here"

Another federal judge has overruled the Trump administration's efforts to end a popular immigration program -- this time saying the government has to accept new applications.

Similar to the other rulings, Judge John Bates concluded that the wind-down of DACA was "arbitrary and capricious" because the Department of Homeland Security failed to "adequately explain its conclusion that the program was unlawful."

The judge also accused the government of providing "meager legal reasoning" to support its decision.

In his 60-page decision, Bates took the administration to task for its justification for ending DACA, which was almost entirely based on a threat from Texas and a handful of other states to challenge DACA in court.

Bates called the move "particularly egregious" given the hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients, young undocumented immigrants who came to the US as children, protected under the program over its five years. Given how many people's lives were built on the protections from DACA, Bates said, "its barebones legal interpretation was doubly insufficient."

Bates concluded that the argument that a Texas court would have likely immediately halted the program "was so implausible that it fails even under the deferential arbitrary and capricious standard."

I see capricious and arbitrary and this immediately came to mind...

Wasn’t DACA basically an executive order? How can cancelling an executive order be unlawful?
Not a legal scholar, so this is my best understanding.

Essentially I think it's two parts:
1) You can't grant a group a deferral allowing them to stay, wait for them to come forward, then just say "haha, just kidding, see you later" because that's essentially entrapment (i.e., because they would have remained undocumented otherwise).
2) If you can't get rid of those who have already been granted deferral, you're creating an arbitrary line between that group and those in the exact same situation who would lose out simply because they didn't apply - or their application wasn't processed - fast enough.

Legally speaking it seems like a extraordinarily complicated matter

A few more years of Trumpism and the US may not have to worry about people wanting to stay. I wonder whose problem it will become then. :noidea::scratch:

I don't know Kenny, despite Trump and some of the stuff going on in America, it still has plenty of appeal for a lot of people. I'm a proud Canadian and I love this country, but it's getting damn expensive to live here and I feel I'm compensated quite well. I can't complain too much because there are a lot of people struggling just to keep a roof over their heads.
