Richard Sherman, shamed in his superbowl loss to the mighty Patriots, is on Bradys side.

Don't understand how Sherman is "siding" with Brady. All he is saying that the Pats organization, Kraft, should be penalized heavily relative to Brady's penalty. He is not saying Brady's penalty should be reduced.

But I am not a Patriots fan, so I cannot read, am dumb, don't know legalese, etc.

you're fiesty today

PS you hear the NFL is leaning on steve garveys supreme court case as their precedent?

this is their case...and to be honest, if they do this...regardless of how the judge sees this mess, he will have to side with the NFL.

USATODAY.com - Supreme Court overturns Garvey's $3M award

you're not local, so you dont know this...yet.

That's what I heard on radio this morning, Rock. Even though it seemed like the judge ripped the NFL a new one, all legal analysts still feel that the NFL has a much stronger case just because of the CBA and the arbitration process. They feel the judge was trying to play devil's advocate to get the NFL close to a settlement.

By the way, I am from "here". But I will be honest I didn't know that the NFL was leaning on this argument. Where did you hear it?

well, what the judge is doing is essentially rubbing the NFL's nose in the mess they created to publicly show how badly they botched this...knowing full well that garvey supreme court case is the gold standard for cases like this.

hes basically trolling the NFL to make a point but knowing his hands are tied.

this is the leagues ace in the hole. theyve had this since january...and are basically saying "embarrass us all you want, this is where we're going" and why the NFL is so staunch in their position...and why berman is trying to force a settlement...he doesnt want to rule on it.

Agreed.

Now hopefully the next CBA yields a much better process and the Steelers are not the only team who stands against the commissioner getting all the power.

im not sure how the CBS is voted on (if its individual player votes or some kind of tally)...but can you imagine how dumb the majority that voted this deal in feel right now?

Good - how about you try to keep this way. Do yourself a favor - try to spend a least a few hours away from this site. Go down to a local bar & talk about this till you are blue in the face. I am 100% sure that you will find others there that give a shit about this. A lot of us are at the pt of truly not caring about this stupid story now. Thank God football season is around the corner.

The suspension is basically an amount of games, the money that it ends up costing any player depends on what they make per game. On this point I think Sherman is correct in saying it is unfair. Brady will eat $1.8M because that is what he makes in 4 games. If another QB (making less) was accused of the exact say infraction he might only pay half that amount. That does seem unfair.

As for owners fines, yes they are a joke. Fining billionaires $1M is a joke. That would be like fining a regular joe making $100k a dollar.

I said at the time the CBA was a horrid deal for the players.

I've been proven right. The NFLPA is the worst labor union in sports, which is impressive when you consider how bad the NHLPA and the NBAPA got stomped in previous CBAs.

this CBA is being called "the worst labor deal in history". not for sports, just labor.

thats pathetic.

yeah, he plays only one side of the field and i think is a bit overrated.

doesnt mean i cant say the man makes a valid point off the field.

So can we say then all those players/ex-players who have said that Brady should be suspended for a year are also then making a good point? Or is it only players that agree with your side that can make a valid point? To me it is very telling especially when Ex-players are the ones saying he should be suspended as most players in the league are not going to say that as much considering they are encouraged by the NFLPA to stand up for each other. As soon as they are not under the NFLPA though it seems most of the Ex-Players are the ones upset with what he has done.

no, because they are in the clear minority, around 30%

"cant we just agree the 15% of people who say cigarettes are healthy, are right?"

So are you saying the Patriots and Brady have no part in the circus that has been created? Because to me they have embarrassed themselves just as much in this situation with how they have handled this. They fired 2 guys right after all this went down but then tried to claim they did nothing wrong. Why do you fire 2 guys if they did nothing wrong? Brady destroyed key evidence and tried to play it off like it was no big deal. The Patriots tried to do the whole "Deflate" meant the guy was trying to lose weight thing. They have pretty much tried to make us the common man think we are idiots for even thinking the Patriots could have done something wrong. When all of this could have been avoided if Brady from day 1 just said "Sorry didn't realize it was a big deal." This whole thing is avoided, the team/Brady is fined and everybody moves on. It was their insistence that they were/are innocent in this entire situation that forced the NFL to have to do what it did. I'm not saying the NFL looks good in this situation as obviously they don't but to me both sides look like complete idiots.

Where are you getting your stats? Where is this 30% coming from? Also since when is being in the minority automatically mean you are wrong? At one time there were only a few in the world that thought the world wasn't flat. They were killed because they made such claims yet here we are not too long into the future and wow those people were right. AGain though want to see where you are getting such a number. I would also ask is the number them mostly asking current players or is that a number that is all past players saying that? Because if you are mixing the two together then the numbers are biased as pointed out the NFLPA has encouraged players to support Brady and other players in similar situations with the league.
