Stopped reading at the bold because I couldn't stop laughing.

Not in fans, or history(obviously). I'm just saying the Clips have been the much better team for a few years now. Is that incorrect?

Yeah, had to laugh. Dude says he lives here and gets "plenty of local perspective," yet somehow hasn't caught that the majority of sports talk has been about how to fix the Lakers, not how well the Clippers are doing.

Even with their best teams ever over the past couple of seasons, they pretty much remain an afterthought.

He must have also missed the cheers at the Dodgers Stadium when it was announced that the Clippers had been eliminated from the playoffs.

Clearly, the Clippers have surpassed the Lakers. :pound:

The point clearly went over your head. Keep flapping about those dominant Lakers.

It's not the first time the Clippers have been better than the Lakers. The result is always the same. 1st or 2nd round exits for a couple of seasons and then they remember they're the Clippers and the Lakers remember they're the Lakers.

I clearly gave you too much credit. I didn't realize that you thought that stating the obvious was the same thing as having a point.

Oh, and please point out where I said anything about the Lakers being dominant.

The Lakers cant afford to build through the draft because Philly with get one of the next 2 number 1s no matter what.

If they had their pick, going young and sucking this year would be the smart, long term play, but with no pick.. might as well try to be decent sooner rather than later, being smart with cap space along the way ofc.

"Remember they are the Lakers"? What does that even mean? We are talking about a team that hasn't even won a playoff series in 3 years, right? The Clippers have at least 3 players better than the Lakers' best player right now, correct?

Like it, or not, the Lakers have been virtually anonymous in this town for years. Everyone in my office used to discuss every game. They haven't done that in years now. Same with those flags that everyone has on their cars when the Lakers are relevant. Maybe Elgin Baylor is going to walk through that door to help them "remember" they are the Lakers, but I don't see it anytime soon.

The tough thing about moving up is finding a team willing to move down. That doesn't happen in the NBA very often. And considering Young or Hill* aren't really valuable players, you're gonna have to be a desperate team to move down. For example, you'll need to find a team that might be looking to shed salary. So say Hill is tradeable so you send him and #27 to a team in the teens. That team then declines his option (freeing up their cap space) and they use #27 on a Euro player to stash overseas (doesn't count against the cap). Just glancing over the draft order, I don't see a team that really jumps out right away. The Jazz could be a possibility at #12 but they could also use the player drafted at 12. Hornets at #9 could be as well but they could also use the player and really, the Hornets would be stupid to trade #9 away for what LA could offer.

That might be shooting too high. Somewhere between 18 to 25 might more reasonable. That's when you're getting into playoff teams that might be more willing to take a bench vet like Young to shore up the very back end of the rotation and move down in the draft to stash a Euro player.

*I'm not quite certain Hill is tradeable. It depends on what the CBA rules are with players that have team options that need to be picked up.

I think Hill has more trade value than Young. But he's due $9 million which might be a bit too high for a contender looking for a good back up big and spot starter. Young has more talent and I believe he's only due about half of what Hill is, but is a little bit of knucklehead. Not a bad guy who gets in trouble off the court, just doesn't take the game seriously enough to maximize his talent.

I could be wrong, but I think the Lakers would have to pick up the option on Hill in order to trade him.

Not sure either but Phil in New York has been clamoring about Hill's availability, TJF12.

I would love to see them take a shot with Looney if he's around and they keep the 27th and/or 34th pick. If I'm not mistaken, he's projected to go in the 2nd round. I think he projects to potentially be the Clarkson of this draft, although I don't think he'll develop as quickly. With his athleticism, he could end up being a very good defender.

I could see Byron teaching him to play NBA level defense first (maybe even bring in Michael Cooper to work with him a little) and then developing his offense along the way.

Like the Batum idea too.

A quick look today appears he is projected in the late teens:

Darn, they'd have to try to package picks and/or players to move up then.

Seems like it, but mock drafts are just guesses, especially the deeper into the draft you get.

True. Probably not worth working too hard to position getting him (if they even have interest) unless they think everyone around the 27 and 34 picks won't amount to much.

Sorry, my man. Nobody is talking about the Lakers. We even have office Lakers tickets that people used to literally fight over. Now? Nobody even wants to go unless Lebron is in town. Have you seen any of those Lakers flags on people's cars for the last couple years? Me either. This is what happens when you go 3 years without winning a playoff series.

this is the same team that's won 10 titles in the last 3 decades right...?

clearly you're dealing with a Lakers hater...

 @your office being the hub of Lakers fandom and conversation. You should get out more. There is plenty of Lakers discussion going on outside of your office.

A little while back, both the Jay Mohr and Petros and Money shows on KLAC tried to have "no Lakers talk" days. Each lasted less than an hour.

Admittedly, I retired from Sports Talk radio a couple years ago. I highly recommend that everyone does this, actually! What a garbage dump that whole format is. You are one of those "super fans" that would talk about the Lakers no matter what. I think the 80% that don't fall in that category stopped caring long ago.
