Obviously you have the time. Cough it up buddy. We're comparing Peyton to Stafford here, so let's compare wins, wins vs winning teams and division titles.

C'mon Ed, sell me on your theory.
I didnt know I had a theory. I guess my theory with Stafford is I think he has the arm and the moxy(i love that word) to win, now lets have a little patience and wait and see. When guys talk about Manning for instance in all his greatness or any of the other greats not named Brady, they forget they took time, they had chances. Manning is a great example because he had some real stinkers and there were murmurs of playoff choker.

For instance....his 3rd straight 1 and done exit was a 41-0 drubbing by the Jets. He was 14/31 for a 137 yards 0 TD's 2 INTs with a rating of 31! If Stafford does that I honestly think someone from this board would hunt him down and kill him.

The following year, Manning made it to the AFC championship vs the Pats. 23/47 237 yards 1 TD 4 INT's for a 35 rating. I can see it now, a mob of fans setting up a huge a cross on woodward and literally kidnapping Matt Stafford and crucifying him. Literally.

The next year 2004, they beat Denver, then he put up 3 points vs NEW England...again another shitter.

2005 1 and done vs Pitt but had a decent game, only 1 TD though.

2006, they won the Superbowl, BUT people dont remember the 2 bad games he had in the first 2 rounds that year.
In round 1 vs KC they won 23-8...Peyton threw 1 TD but 3 INT's.
In round 2 vs Baltimore, they won 15-6. Peyton 15/30 170 yards 0 TD's 2 INT's.
Then came the New England game and the drive, which wouldnt have happened had Belichick ran the ball.
That entire playoff including the Superbowl, the great Peyton had 3TD's to 7 INT's in 4 games!!!!
Seems crazy huh? Its funny because I can see this happening to us and everyone talking about how we won in spite of sorry ass Stafford and what a piece of shit he is lol. But the final result changed history and perception. Had INDY's D not played lights out that year...what would be the perception of Peyton right now? Playoff choker?

2007-2008...2 more one and dones.

I bring this up because people keep making the point of well...we didnt win in our 2 playoff appearances. While I agree thats a bummer...I believe it will come with time.

Anywho....on to the question at hand.

The stats you request are tough to find. I found that Manning is 3-9 vs Brady in the regular season 6-13 vs the Pats overall.

First of all Stafford was injured part of year 1 and almost all of year 2.(remember that he was injury prone...hasnt missed a game since)
So in Matt's first 4 full seasons he is 10-6, 4-12, 7-9, 11-5.

Peyton was ..................3-13, 13-3, 10-6, 6-10. 6-10 in his 4th year wtf...sandwich those on with 1 and dones.

ah the question...i forgot.

Division titles...in his first 4 full seasons Manning had 1....Matt ZERO.

Is it OK to compare the seasons that way?

OK here goes.
1998 3-13 1-9 vs winning teams.
1999 13-3 4-2 vs winning teams
2000 10-6 4-4 vs winning teams. With a sidenote...one of their wins was vs your 9-7 Detroit Lions.
2001 6-10 1-9 vs winning teams.

Overall 10-24 vs winning teams in his first 4.

There it is, my wife is bitching she wants to leave the house.

What was the point of all this? I dont know.

Yep. No one gets a rep as a pimp banging fat girls from the UP every weekend. You gotta tag some 9s and 10s every now and then if you want to be known as a true player, and not just a pig fucker.

In Michigan, the girls come in thick, thicker and thickest.

I stole one of your thick Michigan girls and brought her back to Wisconsin with me. I'm repulsed by those 90lb skeletons with A cups they Photoshop in magazines to look enticing; I like me a little meat on the bones and DD accents.

During that same timeframe...

Rodgers - 2 NFL MVPs and a Superbowl ring (and counting)

You'll make some friends for life with that post.

There's a handful of very broken and/or defective individuals around here who hate the Lions, yet call themselves fans. The rest of us don't understand it, but trying to understand crazy can be awfully tough...

I love Lions fans; my wife is one. Most can take a dig and give one back with a grin. But I'm with you on the inexplicable culture of self-loathing - of not just the Lions, but all Detroit sports teams.

Its definitely not all of us... more of a case of the vocal minority making the rest of us look bad. I think a lot of them are just too scared of their own feelings, so they don't get their hopes up- that way they don't ever have to deal with being disappointed (because they don't deal with stuff well, mostly...).

TP is the last poster you want to listen to here. He loved Millen. If it has a Lions logo slapped on it, it can do no wrong.

Don't mind the Dolphins fans, RP-29. They're still scared and confused about the whole Suh deal, and they don't have the testicular fortitude to act like grown men about it, so they just stay here and troll everyone they can... It's pretty sad on the whole, but, if you're bored and want some cheap fun they're ridiculously easy to get all riled up...

I definitely have to disagree with all of the Detroit sports team fans being self-loathing. The Red Wings have won 4 cups and been to the playoffs 24 straight years. There is nothing to complain about with the success of a franchise who the rest of the NHL would love to emulate. They have one of the best front offices, if not the best, in the NHL.

The Tigers, after being dismal for years, have won their division the last 4 years, have went to the World Series twice in the last 8 years and the ALCS 4 times. They have one of the best GM's in baseball who has built the Tigers into a perennial contender. They haven't gotten over the hump and won the big one, but they have shown they can beat anybody and just need to get hot at the right time.

Detroit Pistons -- they don't count. I quit watching the NBA when the superstars started jumping ship recruiting other superstars to join forces. The NBA might as well eliminate 75% of their teams and just have 8 teams, put them in the major cities and let them play each other over and over.

The Lions -- Their record speaks for themselves. 1 playoff win in 50+ years. Last division title 22 years ago. Just the fact the Lions have such a die hard fan base with their dismal performance over many of those fans entire lifetime, should tell anyone they are true fans and want the best for the team. Some like to voice their displeasure. Others put on their honolulu blue sun glasses and try to convince the others how good the Lions are.

Come on -- going into last year, we had a young Peyton Manning at QB. One of the best RB duo's in the NFL. One of, if not, the best OL groups in the NFL. A TE we drafted 10th overall who cannot be covered by a safety or LB and will take double teams away from Calvin Johnson.

That last paragraph -- I took individual threads started by Lions fans on here and just combined them all. That offense finished in the bottom 3rd of the league in basically everything, while our defense carried the team. Figure that one out.

Personally -- I think self-loathing when talking about the Lions is a slap in the face -- most fans just call it being realistic and not overvaluing a flawed product. :)

It's no surprise that you don't understand something.

You love anything and everyone attached to the Lions. You loved Millen. You love Mayhew. You love every pick, every free agent, everyone whose tire they kick has a chance to become a Pro Bowler w the Lions. You pick them to win 10 games minimum every year dating back to forever.

Being a fan doesn't mean you lick up everything puked in front of you.

Red Wings fans are some of the snobbiest fans in any sport. "Hockey town" gag me. More like Ghost town once the mighty Red Wings are eliminated each year. Bandwagon Wings fans are nowhere to be found in "Hockeytown".

For example, I've spent time on mlive and have been appalled at the number of commenters constantly calling for Holland's immediate firing. Hoards seriously exclaiming "Babcock must go" and "trade everyone". Hoards calling for tanking for high draft picks like the Penguins and Blackhawks did.

There's a distinct line between realism and bombastic self-loathing pessimism and, from what I've seen, the percentage of the latter is far too high.

Spoiled rotten bandwagon Red Wing twats, who only know the Wings as a rich team who buys Cups. Ignore them. Not real hockey fans.

I liked RP already. He has a sense of humor.

The Hoop is a big place. I'd recommend you check it out, but honestly, Id rather if you just stayed here in your room. Makes it easier for folks to carry on rational conversations e'rywhere else.

(I love when Tp tries to lump himself in with the entire Lions Board, when there are only two people that make up "rest of us". Robin and Tony Danza. Good stuff. )

I loved the Wings till they signed that buttfuck Bertuzzi. Couldn't root for that piece of shit. Haven't really got the call to start caring boot them again since he's gone either.

Danny Dekeyser is bound to draw me in eventually. Obviously.

Haha, see what I mean RP-29? If anyone has anything that isn't horrible to say about the Lions these clowns literally come out of the woodwork to attack said opinion and bring the board back down to their sorry, insecure level. And be forewarned, you'll be very hard-pressed to ever come across so many grown-ass men who are as insecure as these bozos are...

You can get a pretty good idea on these guy's view on life when you read the crap they post about the Lions, the team they're here because they're supposedly "fans" of. If that's their idea of being a fan and enjoying something, well I feel pretty sorry for the wives and families that have to put up with these morose motherfuckers on a daily basis...

It's also pretty humorous that it's never just one on the attack; if there's something good said about the Lions on here the group text goes out, and, sure enough, the same 4 or 5 guys show up at the same time defending their equally depressed butt-brethren...
