Birds, I don't think anyone is really arguing. It is more like stating why you believe in your team and both of our fan bases are passionate about our ball clubs.
I say it is all good, no one has insulted anyone's wife or mom or head coach.
Let's keep the info going and I bet all of us in this thread vote for a hard fought game that is free of injuries and uneven flag throwing.

How about one of you telling how you would game plan against this Seattle team. We will respond.

This game will be won and or lost by the Eagles O-line. We may have the best O-line in the NFL when healthy, and we are 4/5 healthy now. Our LT Jason Peters has been Arguably the best LT in football the last 5 years, our center is Hands down the best in the NFL. Our LG Evan Mathis is a Pro Bowler who also was the #1 rated OG in the NFL per Football Focus...Our RT Lane Johnson was our #1 pick last year and he is an absolute Beast! This is why I say, our O-lines gonna punch your D-line right in the Chops. This games gonna live and die on the shoulders of our O-line. Our defense as a whole is no match for Seattles, however our D-line is pretty damn good and our Lb's Bring it! Expect Connor Barwin to be all over Wilson, he will shadow him all game. We shut down Demarco Murray, we can shut down Beast Mode in our House! It's gonna be a great game.:suds:

If looking at RB's, the Eagles are much better, no contest.

Ahum, those 500 yards rushing might have had something to do with the complete mess that was the Eagles O-line for the majority of this season... and that was combined with teams completely selling out against the run in ways that were completely new to the offense (i.e. that had not been shown in tape); at least that per Chip Kelly, Pat Shurmur, LeSean McCoy and just about every O-linemen on the Eagles. O yeah, and McCoy did not have a mobile QB (or well-passing QB) as decoy to make things easier for him either.

Since the injuries have healed, and there has been some continuity, LeSean has been back to his good old self - and might end up as 2nd leading rusher in the league this season.

Of course the nearly 700 yards of Russel Wilson greatly distort that statistic (Seahawks have rushed for 500 more yards than the Eagles) as well. And yes, Wilson's mobility WILL be the X-factor in this whole debate (both rushing and passing).

Understandably so, you shouldn't know about our O-line just as I shouldn't know much about yours. So since you aren't aware, we have had moments where we have started a combination of rookies, 2nd stringers, 3RD STRINGERS, and a converted DT at guard. Dude, we've seen it, had it, and still managed to run 500 yards more than your team with two studs at RB. You're right, McCoy doesn't have a running QB to work with him in the running game.......just as Lynch doesn't have a speedster like Sproles to take some of the attention away from him either. To say McCoy & Sproles are much better than what the Hawks throw out in their running game is crazy and you just proved it. Marshawn Lynch is #5 in yards and Russell Wilson, THE QB MIND YOU, is #15 in rushing yards ahead of full-time backs such as Andre Ellington, Chris Ivory, Steven Jackson, and Rashad Jennings to name a few. Oh yeah, he's less than 100 yards away from Eddie Lacy, Mark Ingram, Lamar Miller, and Frank Gore........did I mention he is the QB!?! Every team has injuries, and even in those injuries the Seahawks have managed a better running game. You can have the WR debate all day, but McCoy and Sproles being much better than the Hawks rushing attack is a farce and you know it. Give a dog a bone here, every facet of your team isn't better than the Hawks.

You better run it because based off of your logic Sanchez doesn't have a chance in hell against the Legion of Boom. If you can shut down the #1 rushing team in football then we can shut down your passing attack, that leaves you running against us throwing, and I'll take the defense of the Hawks all day in that comparison. Of course, right LOL!

I think the D-Line. Shut down Lynch...it's a win. Don't, it's a close game. I don't worry about Russell's running.

So - going back to the original post triggering this diversion - Russel Wilson is going to pass to himself?

Because the original question was what will happen when it comes down to the respective passing games, assuming both defenses manage to shut down the other's running game.

At that point, Russel Wilson (as QB) no longer is part of the running game, and at that point the Eagles RB's (including Sproles) are much better than anything the Seahawks have. And yes, Sproles is being used differently by Kelly than the Saints did last year (to the dismay of many opponents we faced so far).

BTW, you refer to your QB as a RB. Yes, he is part of the running game, and NOT an RB. It would also be interesting to see how many of Wilson's rushing yards have come from broken down pass plays, rather than designed runs/read option plays... I know most of Vick's rushing yards did in 2010.

The Seahawks have a damn good D but the key to beating them is having an Offense that can both run & pass well. We are 5th in passing & 6th in rushing. The key will be turnovers. Im sure we'll have at least 1 but we cant have more than that. Cant give them short fields or lose out on scoring chances.

As far as the Hawks O vs our D. Its a wash. They run well. We stop the run well. They dont pass well & thats our weakness. We are good at getting to the passer. Russell is good at escaping pressure.

S/Ts we have the edge.

But the biggest over riding factor is we are at home. I believe 10 straight wins. We should win this game. If we get trounced (unlikely imo) ...it will be enough for me to say this just aint our year.

According to Ray Didinger, the Seahawks are 29th when it comes to defensive punt returns, averaging about 13 yards per return. That bodes well for Darren Sproles.
He also said that the Seahawks are 28th in red zone defense. Since the Eagles have been pretty bad in the red zone, something has got to give.

Richard Sherman DPOW last week. Kam Chancellor DPOW (2nd time this year) the week before.

Seahawks can only hope to block Mr Barwin well, very well.

A few things I have learned this week.
Philly has the fastest HUO in the league at 22.8 seconds per play ran. Since the league went to 16 teams in 1978 that will be the fastest by any team over a single season. This is what they do. It is their plan.
Seattle's offense runs a play every 30.8 seconds, the slowest in the league. This is what they do. It is their plan.
Opinion: Many Philly fans talk about tiring Seattle's D because of the HUO. That is likely because Pete likes to keep his DL fresh by substituting and that is an expected issue to contend with. Seattle plays a ball control smash mouth running style which leads the league at 5.34 yards per rush (over the last 10 seasons that would be a top 5 average). With that in mind wouldn't the D that is on the field the longest be subject to tiring more than the other team?
Philly ST's >Seattle ST's only in the return game. Our K's and our P's match up fairly even. Both K's have completed 27 FG's with Hauschka attempting 1 more. Philly has punted more (56 vs 44) but Ryan has a better gross and net average.
The difference in ST's is in the return game. Seattle has a better TB % 58.8%=5th in the league while Parkey 52.6%=8th in the league.
Opinion: Seattle can eliminate this advantage by consistent deep kickoffs and by punting for long hang time as opposed to distance. We can do that well as last year through Week 11 or 12 IIRC, the Seahawks were setting an NFL record low punt return net until a 15 yard return blew that apart. So, I don't think ST's will have a huge advantage for either team as long a Seattle can reduce any punt or kick return opportunities. Yet, in this game it is possible that the team that has the most FG's might win.
Defensively Philadelphia has an effective line whose strong point appears to be sacking the QB. Seattle plays pretty much vanilla and do not try to disguise much. They tend to play straight up mano a mano with a little 1, 2, and 3 deep zone play as well.
An interesting stat. Due to the HUO, TOP gets destroyed as mentioned earlier. Seattle's D has run 699 plays(2nd fewest) averaging 4.9 YPP (tied for 3rd lowest) and giving up a total 285 YPG (#1) and allowing 221 points(3rd) and is on the field 28:35 minutes per game. Philly has run 821 D plays(tied 19th) averaging 5.4 YPP (11th) and giving up a total of 366 YPG (24th) allowing 285 points(tied 19th) and plays 32:14 minutes per game.
Any of you can find stats that will show your team in a good light, just as I can but I thought I would include the most important stats.
Opinion: Seattle has the better D and does play fewer snaps. Which team will get more tired? I know we are a young team. Is Philly a "young" or "old" team with lots of established vets?
Offensively is where the Eagle shine IMO. The Eagles have a much better OL and Seattle's OL has been a shambles while suffering many injuries again.Passing YPG has the Eagles at #4 vs #13 for Seattle, In YPA the Eagles are #10 vs #17 for Seattle, and both teams run very well Seattle #1 vs Philly at #6. Total points scored has Eagles at #4, Seattle at #11.
In TD's scored, Philly tends to rely on passing with 50% of TD's scored via the pass, 26% of TD's scored via the run. Seattle is a little more even @ 43% TD's rushing and 48% passing. Return game and Defensive scoring account for the remaining TD's not mentioned and the Eagles have a distinct advantage there.A great match up with be if the Eagles will have much success against the LOB in scoring TD's.
Long winded but a brief summary:
Philadelphia will run their HUO with precision. I expect Seattle to bring Kam closer to the box in trying to limit the Philadelphia run game and putting the chance for victory on MS's shoulders. If Sanchez has to throw to win, I think this looks great for Seattle who has arguably the best DB's in the game.
When Seattle has the ball, they will play keep away from the Eagle Offense by running the ball with Lynch and use up as much of the clock as possible. If Philly stuffs the box, the R/O or play action may come into play.
Opinions are valued. Please bring `em.

Ah was fun to read good game to both with no injuries. I have to root for the Eagles in this one because it helps with home field for my team but I did hear just how great and super the Eagles were a few weeks back and this was all quite similar I am sure you can find the threads.

Then they played the game!

I think if we get up on Seattle like the Dallas game..it could be all she wrote. They want to RUN (just like dallas). Thats their game. Unfortunately for them they dont have a Dez Bryant, JAson Witten or Demarco Murray out of the backfield. Shit..they dont even have a PErcy Harvin.:whoo:

Ok guys, San Fran, Az , and GB beat your team and the Eagles only scored a total of 61 points in those 3 games combined.
The Seahawks dismantled all 3 of those teams this year allowing 22 points for all 3 teams combined.

Exactly WTF does any of that have to do with our game???

waiting...

Answer: NOTHING. It has nothing to do with our game. Neither does Murray and the way the games went between our 2 teams. Many of you bring up the Dallas games as some kind of evidence that we have little chance at your place. It will all play out Sunday.

It would be silly to think Seattle has no chance. We do however have a huge home field advantage & Seattle is a better team at home vs the road. Though of course they are damn good anywhere.

Should be a good game...either way. The winner ahould have some big time momentum going into the final 3 weeks of the reg. season & a good chamce at a bye

Sounds good. But other teams have big LTs also and there's no history of them running wild vs Seattle.

I think the key here is Sanchez and the rollout passes that just killed Dallas.

Bill Vinovitch will be the lead referee on Sunday. His crew throws about 13 flags per game, which doesn't sound like a lot.
Overall, the Eagles are 1-4 with this group while the Seahawks are 5-1.
