Soler on....who comes off?
My first guess is Robert Ray to the 60 day IL.
However, if the Giants don't want to make that obvious move, the top 5 for a dfa, in my opinion, are Cooper Hummel, Randy Rodriguez, Sean Hjelle, Ethan Small and TJ Hopkins (in no particular order).

Soler added. Still awaiting the corresponding roster move. Waiting til Thursday means we don’t have to DFA anyone.

The Giants could easily drag out the official completion of the deal until Thursday. I think its most likely that is what happens.

Both Ray and Cobb are going on the IL tomorrow. I guess that leaves one spot for....

MONTY!

Are you certain that Cobb goes on the 60? His possible return would be slightly before the end of the 60 day period. I'm not so sure the Giants will put him on that list unless they know for certain that he won't be ready before the day that he can be activated. My understanding is that 60 day placements prior to the start of the season don't start the 60 day clock until Opening Day.

I really really hope that this happens. Going into the season we have nothing legitimate behind Webb untill Ray and Cobb come back. As mediocre as Disco and Stripling were they at least provided some level of support. MONTY would be a great pickup for the rotation and it would take quite a bit of pressure off Hicks.

I do like that the Giants have added bullpen depth in recent days and they should do more of it. I always feel like mixing in a new look is good for the bullpen and you just never know when you might get 20-30 quality innings from someone a little lower on the depth chart.

Even if it’s a minor league signing or one like the Warren move, there’s such little risk to it. Just hope that you get someone while they are on a good stretch. You can never predict when that’ll happen with relievers but guys come out of nowhere to have a career year every year.

Pablo Sandoval signed to a minor league deal and invited to ST.
Let's see - Pablo is 37 years old, weighs 268 lbs (at 5ft10in), last appeared in a professional game about a year ago in the Puerto Rican Winter League, posted a .732 OPS in the Mexican League in 2022 and posted a .645 OPS in 2021 with Atlanta.
I know, maybe he will be the fall back at shortstop if it doesn't work with Luciano or Schmitt.
